Update on partner moving in

I posted on here some time back about my boyfriend wanting to move in with me and my 3 children. Well he did and I declared it straight away to the benefits office.
I now find myself with not a penny in the bank, bills on my pending pile and little food in the cupboards.
As soon as I declared partner had moved in all my benefits stopped as they should I know, but I thought they might of at least asked when boyfriend gets paid and will he have to clear his loose ends up before starting on my bills.
No such luck. They cut me off completly with no help, have asked about tax credits which I know nothing about and have no help. I looked up on net the number and rang it and am still waiting a week later for a claim pack to arrive.
Ive had to borrow money off my father to buy a bit of food and pay electric and give my boyfriend some to buy petrol to get to work.
One of children is severly disabled and she needed money for her two night respite break and I coulndn't give it to her. My other daughter needed money for cookery lessons at her new secondary school and Ive had to tell her to tell the teacher she forgot it.
Ive got a loan coming out of the bank in a week and theres no money in there. I am basically knackered and wish Id stayed a single parent.
My boyfriends already pulling his face about how much money he is going to have to give me when he gets paid even though he said we will be ok he will sort everything out at first. That was until he realized how much exactly this is going to cost him.
Apparently Im not entitled to a great deal of tax credits as he earns 19,000 so what he does earn has to go back into the house.
Dont know about going to specsavers.... I should of just gone to Ann Summers. Would of been 10 times better off.:o
Was it really worth having a boyfriend in the first place. Im sure I can live with being a lonely old spinster.
RANT OVER at least the sun is shining....

Ok, firstly, do you get DLA for your daughter? That should not be affected by anything you or your partner bring in and is should not have been stopped.
Secondly, they should not have stopped your child benefit?
Thirdly, you won't get wtc on £19k (I don't think - I'm a little unsure as you should get a premium for having a child with disabilities IF she gets relevent other benefits) but you will get more than the basic element of ctc.
Go to entitled to and enter the two of you as a couple and input his wage as £19k for last year and then say it won't change this year - that should give you the level of ctc you will get based on his wage and your other circumstances.
Were you still receiving income support as opposed to ctc as a single parent?
You probably won't get any HB or CTB on his income.
Do you get carers allowance as I'd have thought that was still payable to (but I don't know much about it so may be wrong).
Basically, try not to panic until you know the full facts as they may not be as bad as you think. Plus the tax credits should be backdated.0 -
Yes I still get CB and CA and daughters DLA. They get eaten up by direct debits for gas , electric, water, mortgage etc.
I was on single parent IS for myself and 3 children, council tax benefit, dont claim HB as bought council house really cheap. Interest mortgage relief has stopped. Free school meals have stopped.
Its just the waiting for the forms and getting the CTC. Dont know if boyfriend will get FTC or WTC as dont know anything about these.
I know it will work out in the end its just at the moment I have £0.00 and loads to pay out and Im used to having everything in order ie: bills, shopping etc.0 -
Sorry to hear you're struggling misstropy.
One question - why are you giving BF petrol money when he earns £19k pa and you earn nowt?0 -
Hes got no money its the end of the month and hes had to pay all his final bills up when he was living. He gets paid at the end of this month so not long to go.0

Have you put your details into entitledto?
He won't get ctc but you will, as the main carer. He would get wtc if entitled, but I don't think you will be.0 -
this all sounds hard could contact dwp and ask for guidance ? surely u should get somethingonwards and upwards0

I think it works out as £187.00 CTC, but will have to wait and see. Have usually got half of xmas pressies done and dusted and put in loft by now, its doing my head in having no money.0
