    This sounds almost exactly like my experience - failed epidural with Ryan, absolute nightmare, butchered by a stupid midwife who had no idea what she was doing, and left needing about 30 stitches. Then with Natasha, two puffs of gas and air, hello baby!*

    (*not quite, but that's how I remember it now that time has clouded the whole pain issue :D)
