thas what the guy said on the fone,,,i havent got virgin media if thats what u mean,iv got a bt lan
Right, if it's ADSL (which is over a BT landline) then it will be 8Mbit.
If you are in a cable area and have their cable broadband service, then that will be 10Mbit, this comes through a co-ax cable to a cable modem and not via the BT phoneline network and using filters. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
I'm with Virgin ADSL 2Mbit 'service' and the throttling management is really dire in the evenings and it just crawls along. When it's like that I can't view any videos from the BBC website. I'm getting really frustrated with it and have been thinking of leaving too.
Now I've just received an email out of the blue from Virgin advising me that my service is to be 'upgraded' on the 16th October and my phone may be out of action for up to 4 hours whilst its being done. This implies that something is being done in the local telephone exchange. I shall be interested to see whether it really does improve anything.
Anyone else had this Virgin upgrade done already, and did it make a difference?
