Tinned kidney beans 19p I think
Lidl:
Fruit and veg again like Aldi, miles cheaper and fresher than Morrisons/Tesco/Asda
Pineapple I bought from there last week for 49p was delicious.
DO NOT BUY NETTO MINCED BEEF! I spent ages making big batches of lasagnes for the freezer and had to throw them all out the mince was that yucky. Lots of nasty chewy fatty bits and what I bought was supposedly 'extra lean steak mince'. Never again!0 -

Here is the contents listing for a can I've bought as an experiment:
Branded "Campolargo"
Produce of Italy.
49% Haricot Beans
27% Tomatoes
Water
Sugar
Etc,
Here in Britain "Baked Beans" are normally USA produced Navy Beans.
Perhaps I should make some home made Cassoulet out of them?

Baked beans in the UK are always made from Haricot beans so I'm assuming Navy beans is just another name. Lidl changed the recipe of their beans quite some time ago as they used to contain cassia which tastes a bit like cinnamon and they've removed it. Their cheap Campolargo brand baked beans now taste much like any other, except they have a thicker sauce and more beans than other basic label type brands I've tried. If you tried the beans quite some time ago I recommend trying them again as you might like the new recipe.0 -
