Maybe she's too busy frittering it on other luxuries?
Like food, heating, phone bills, council tax, water rates, clothing etc and all the other items that you need to bring children up properly?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
£20 per month goes in his bank acount, and the rest is in the pot which pays for a magazine subscription, his clothes, toys, Christmas, Birthdays, outings... infact there is no way his CB covers everything he has so perhaps i'll start charging him rent..... anyone want a 4 year old chimney sweep?
lmao! I might, cos my 7 year old is getting a bit too big now - keeps gettin' wedged!0 -
Ours just goes into the pot !!TRYING hard to be a good money saver :rolleyes:0

I save ours, but like another poster in a special children's account that earns more interest & pays no tax.
Whilst I'm fortunate that we don't need it right now, it's there & available should we need it.
I refuse to put any more money into the CTF account, other than the free cheques, as it's unaccessible, & worse, the child gets to decide what to spend it on. If it is used for uni, you can guarantee it would be for booze & not used for fees

Mine goes into the same account as all the other incomings and helps on all the outgoings, whether its gas, electric, water, phone, tv license, council tax, rent or clothes, toys, food etc.
They have their own accounts which they put their pocket money etc in.
I certainly didn't get any of my mums child benefit directly( we didn't get pocket money) and she never saved an account for us, did anyones mum give them the child benefit money directly???0 -

I don't give my daughter pocket money as she gets that from her grandparents. I maybe use my CB to pay a bill but then later in the week she gets taken to the cinema. I don't demand the money from her as 'it's my money'. It's all swings and roundabouts really.
Until you live in a household I don't think it's fair to pass comment on how someone else runs their budget.
ooopppss maybe i shoudnt have wrote anything on this thread then,
just my point of view i suppose . . . . yeah ok then maybe though "rose tinted glasses"0 -
I save £20 a month for each of my boys (I have 2), then the rest goes to pay my 7 year olds keyboard and karate lessons, and my toddlers swimming lessons, plus clothes, shoes etc that they need.
I think that they we spend more than £125 a month between them anyway, in addition to these things.Moving on up

£30 a month into a long term savings bond, it will mature when DD is 15, so the money is still within our control;) just in case she goes off the rails and wants to spend it all on drink/drugs/Jimmy Choos

Most of the rest is transferred into her bank account and she uses it to buy clothes and shoes - it's a good way to let her budget for the necessities in life, and she can afford a little extra here and there if she's careful with what she spends the rest on.. Clarks are a non-negotiable purchase, though.;) She is nearly 10, and this systems has been working well for us for the past few years.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
