  • We're apparently £160 in credit, but I'm too scared to call them to give them an actual reading in case we owe them!

So yes, roll on Spring. We had a shower installed just before Christmas so hopefully we won't use any gas at all this summer!

I really must start posting in this diary more, I am getting quite down in the dumps about money at the minute and i need to get back on track.

I was really happy when i got debt free, now with the recession i have lost 4% on my ISA since i opened it and I have spent some of my savings which i am annoyed at myself for.

Have also just had to spend £280 on OH's MOT, will go halfs so that £140 each we could do without and Scottish Power have put our direct debit up by another £8 per month too :o

I am not feeling hopeful for OH's credit report findings either but i can't do much about it. Even if he had a great credit rating we would struggle to get a mortgage.

Just feel I have worked so hard to become debt free and now its been thrown back in my face.

  • Don't feel too down. It's a hard time of year generally, without adding what's going on to that!

Just try to be positive, and take solice in knowing you're doing all you can right now. In any case, it can only get better! This is the worse it will be.

    :D

I am feeling happier today, I won £5 on the free scratchcards and have OH's credit report back.

And well, its blank! Nothing bad on it but no credit accounts at all.

Have applied for a Vanquis credit card for him and just hoping he gets it so we can start building his report up.

Also asking for advice on other ways to build it.

Thats great his credit history is clear!

A contract mobile would build up his history. Theres 02 1 months contracts for £15 or £20 a month. Cheaper than PAYG!

In protect your pocket section up the top of page theres a whole section on how to build it up. You've probably already seen it!

    Hi Retro,

Its not excellent as such, he has no credit rating at all :o

But we can work on it.

I have made £15 on Bingoport this week, just trying to figure out how to make the best of our winnings now :)

    Hello!

I have been meaning to update this for a few days.

I have not been well last couple of weeks, was in bed from 5th to 12th with this flu/lergie thing apart from one doctors trip and today is the first day i have felt "normal" since 5th :o.

On the money side Nick has been accepted for a Vanquis credit card, just waiting for it to come through now and hoping they have only given him a small limit and high APR so he doesn't use it too much! I am worried it might end up backfiring on us!

No money making been done last 2 weeks but plan to start again now :)

If its his first card they might just start him off with a £700-900 limit. Do you think he would splurge on it then? I would keep the card and do the food shopping on it every week/month and build the history up for him.
