It is the principle of the thing. Their so called telephone service is useless as you can't understand the person at the other end. As for internet banking if you send them a secure email you get a different answer to the question you asked.

Hahahaha that comment about the secure message is soooo funny because its sooo true !!

I emailed them asking about my OD because I could go a few £ into my OD but it wasn't activated or anything and could I do it over internet or would I have to arrange an thing in branch. They replied saying that I have an OD and it has already been activated. So I just went into branch and ignored the secure message as they had no idea what they were talking about :rotfl:

I agree with you on that. I have been told things which are wrong for example that I have to invest in a new ISA rather then transfering the money to a higher interest rate one with them. I suspect they don't want customers to go to the ecash ISA.

I'm sorry, but when the most it will affect you by is a couple of pence each month, and you're still angry, your principles are bloody weird at best.

Sorry, I disagree with you, it may well be " a couple of pence a month " but it was obviously enough in their coffers, for HSBC to decide to stop it.

This was following consultation with customers, apparently, well they never asked me, nor I suspect anyone else.

I suppose the 1000 job cut's will also not affect customers.

It could well be that the amount of time (processing and otherwise) spent on trying to work out the 0.1% of interest on the current accounts of millions of people was too great compared to the utility those millions of people got from it? Perhaps? For them that 0.1% might be significant, for you it's absolutely peanuts. I bet until they told you they were taking it away, you couldn't have cared less.

They consulted with customers and found out that a large portion of a representative sample didn't care about two pence of interest each month, and frankly even if they hadn't I doubt that anyone except the minority that get uppity over things that don't actually matter would have cared. They didn't consult with you personally because consulting with every single customer would be time consuming and in the end worthless and stupid.

The 1000 job cuts are in the City, in their international divisions. Not in the branch network.

They are doing it to make money off the backs of their customers. I have never been in debt with them or anything. I am sick and tired of the behaviour of HSBC. I am joining a credit union and hopefully will over time move a lot of my money there. I have put the bulk of my money in a ISA with the bank.

I know it is not much but that is besides the point. I am not a mathematical genuis but I bet you that they are saving a lot of money.

Well it is evident that HSBC are good at " brain washing " their staff, even if they are not quite so good at doing the same to their customers.

I agree with you on that. The staff think they are working for a good organisation.

I would not tell anyone to join them as they are a waste of time and energy and money.

Yes it has been stated on this forum before that HSBC are changing to Visa from this winter, rolling until 2010.
