Inactive,
I think you are a bit off the mark, the bank employees on here do care about customer needs. my mates who still work there read on here but dont often post, but i assure you there are have been many gripes to their managers about what HSBC do, if the staff dont agree, they are perfectly entitled to have an opinion? Im sure ldavies will have had to explain many decision to her staff members and im sure thats the same for Barclaysmanager.Millionaire in Training

Well perhaps I havn't noticed any comments critical of their employers actions, from the bank employee's that post on here.
Perhaps you have, they all seem to be highly defensive of their bosses actions to me.0 -
I do agree with you, they are 'highly defensive' on this subject, but it is just a different point of view to me and you at the end of the day? I dont agree with everything they say and there have certainly been a few points where I have thought 'well you would say that wouldnt you'.
Inactive If you want someone to be critical of HSBC (from a staff, ex-staff point of view) , where would you like me to start????? ;-)Millionaire in Training

How long have you got?...:rotfl:
Seriously, I just get annoyed at people that try to justify the actions of their employers, because they work for them.
Clearly the new HSBC Account for the less well off will fall short of what it replaces, that cannot be a good thing for those adversely affected.
It doesn't apply to me, however I am genuinly concerned for those that it does. I am sure someone will soon reply with, " well if they don't like it etc. ";)0 -
I think it should be how long have YOU got Inactive?
lets just say career progression can be difficult there sometimes!!!!
I can totally understand where you are coming from, for those affected by the new account, but if you fall into the catagory of paying in >£500 a month then you arent losing much anyway?
something I havent looked at is, do they still get a debit card if they fall into that bracket?Millionaire in Training

I believe so, but without the cheque guarantee section.0 -

I am actually gaining...
I get 8% IR offered and Monilink free. I would not get these at the moment. I am signed up to non paper statements and I don't pay anything by cheque (if I do it would be to friends and family) currently so that wouldn't effect me if I wasn't paying in £500 a month.
However, I am paying in £500 a month so I am gaining more.
To be quite honest, the only thing people will lose is paper statements, which you can easily order from the bank, get a mini statement from cash machines. I still don't see the problem.
I would rather them save money from the account changeover and spend more elsewhere.0 -
Considering that many many retailers no longer accept cheques now, this is hardly a big loss.... A large majority of bounced cheques occur even with quarantee card as it has not been written in conjunction of the terms and conditions of the account. I think I have mentioned this early on in the thread.
That is fair comment, however that isn't the point that I am making, less well off customers will lose the service that they have now, thus they are being treated as second rate customers, simply because they are not able to make a regular monthly minimum payment in to their HSBC account.
That, in my view is unfair and is not in the customers best interest.0 -
But surely if you're not putting £500 a month into your HSBC account its not in regular use so you won't be using cheques?
And if you are, without the £500 a month the cheques are going to be of little value so the cheque gaurentee is pretty petty if you won't accept a £10 cheque without one.0 -

But, you are missing the point, would you believe, not everybody has £500 a month paid in, some have less, they will still use their account regularly, but with less facilities than they had before.
That in my book is treating them as second class customers.:rolleyes:0
