Yes I think HSBC revamped all branches to have these, all apart from the smaller branhces.

However obvious inactive doesn't want to use these machines which are quicker than waiting in queues *sigh*. You just waste times for others who actually need to go and see a cashier tbh.
  • Some people are just set in their ways and too adverse to change, and that is not meant as a dig!

I can remember during my time at HSBC I was passing through the banking hall and noticing an old lady close to tears? 'where have the counters gone?' she asked (we had moved them upstairs). the lady wanted to pay in a cheque. I said 'come this way, I will show you the machines, quicker and easier.' She wasnt very happy and actually called the machines 'robots'

I stayed with her while she paid her cheque in, explained how it worked, why we had done it and she was actually amazed by the end of it all!

I now see her sometimes at the machines paying in by herself when im in paying in cash/cheques myself. the old lady must be in her late 80s?

I think that if everybody who went into a HSBC branch was met with a friendly face, had help using the machines. explained step by step. why the machines had been introduced etc im sure the storymaybe a bit different! Unfort I think there are too many HSBC branches with staff who dont have a clue!!!! there were a couple of numptys in the branch i worked in!!!!!

Some people find them difficult to use due to things like disability.

I post all my cheques to them as I could not be bothered to go to the miserable branch all the customers look miserable because they don't want to be there. You can't tell where the staff are and most of them just sit around waiting for god knows what.

It's as hard to get as a plain Current Account - the criteria don't differ.

I have it (staff get it cheap) and there's actually now a dedicated, 24/7 UK call centre for Plus customers, which also applies to any HSBC credit card you might have too. Worth it for that alone... The debit card also looks pretty snazzy.

    But yeah, brainwashed etc.

OK it is about 30 minutes or so but it is a lot longer if you want to see a member of the so called customer service staff.

the customers who barely even qualify for an account ( who are more demanding than everyone else as they are unable to do anything themselves!, cost more to maintain in time and money and rarely keep accounts in order! ...
Would I be correct in presuming this class of customer are more likely to fail to qualify under your new £500 criteria, meaning you will in future send them less frequent statements? If so is that not going to make it even harder for them to "keep accounts in order"?

do you have any images of the card?
does the card have a cheque guarantee?
The UK call centre is worth while considering what people say about the foreign call centres!
