I'm a bit of a lurker on this site but I am a registered diner and thought I might be able to help/comment.

What they look for is real commentary on the dine - they don't really want to know about times etc. more about ambience and what you think could be better. So details like 'they offered me olives and tap water as I looked at the menu'. When I visited the toilets the door closer did not engage and I could see inside the washroom area'. Improvements in the hall lighting - so I could read the menu with ease would help'. 'The mixed salad needed to include a wider variety of leaves'.

I don't think they are concerned with timeliness in the same way as others - I have commented the checkback seemed to consider the stage of the meal I was at. Also lots of detail on ambience. How the meal/experience makes you feel.

To be honest it's quite a bit of work to complete the shop but the the reward is good 'a great meal out with friends' you won't make any money but I think it's one of the best companies for this type of thing.

It might be something to do with how often you visit different types of cafe/restaurant...

When I checked the available assignments quite a few said "you must be used to high end dining" or something similar. Maybe there was a key area you said you never visited? Or did you select "daily/weekly" for all options and they may think you aren't answering truthfully...

Trouble is, I can write those sort of reports if needed, some companies want a chatty style of report, others very factual. But if they don't tell you what type to write with some example, how can you "pass their test". Its not a very natural way to describe a meal out which is what their application form wanted.

Applied the other day, got reply the following morning saying i had been accepted.

They wanted people in what is my home town, but nothing available for past few days or anything close....beginning to think how hard its going to be make my way through bronze, silver etc if i dont even get a single chance to put a report in.

I also got rejected - however have email to ask for feedback (i.e is it due having sufficient demand in my area) . I will let you know when/if I get a response

I've just signed up and I'm from northern ireland so fingers crossed I've no kids and my experience of fine dining isnt great lol Its prob be monday before they get back to me, i'll let yous know how it goes..

I got my acceptance email this morning. Got to read the handbook and do a little test then hopefully there will be jobs in my area. Good luck anyone else trying!
