I hold my hands up and admit that I too was foolish enough to pay £9.95 to have somebdy from Port Creek read my form for me. I paid for the privilege, not knowing any different, through PayPal. Then, upon finding out payment was not necessary, requested a refund. I told them that I thought I was paying for the cards, not the service, and had I known,I wouldn't have paid it.
PortCreek, as a gesture of goodwill, refunded my £9.95. Would a scam refund you? I think not.
(Might read the small print and do my research a bit better though next time)0 -
Burls,
I have also been caught out by this company - how did you contact them to try and obtain a refund??
Many Thanks0 -
I'm also a victim but those of us who've fallen for this have all done so through our own lack of care and attention. I reckon Portcreek is legitimate and above board and, as stated by somebody else in the thread, they even provide a link to the legitimate NHS site. Read Portcreek's terms and conditions (which I'm only doing now after realising my mistake) and they are up front with everything. They've been very clever indeed. But I'm equally as angry with the official site which isn't even able to put itself at the top of the Google rankings.
Oh well... once bitten twice shy

Definition of Scam: A swindle or a fraud.
This is not a scam, even when written in big red letters.Gone ... or have I?0 -
i disagree, it is a scam/rip off. they are clearly relying on the very similar web address to confuse people and charge for a service that is free.2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=ehic&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq= people need to learn / understand that the returns in a google search in pink are sponsored adverts paid.
The website does not conceal the charge they make and even advises you can apply for the EHIC card yourself along with a link to the NHS website.
"You can use the Portcreek EHIC Review and Forward service on this website. The charge is £9.95 per application. Or you can use the NHSBSA website which can be found here to apply yourself"
The vast vast majority of websites on the internet are in some way businesses, people need to read the websites before they spend money and have a trawl around the internet.0 -

Thankfully, I have no friends, or children, that I have to tell that this is NOT a scam, and people need to READ THINGS!0 -

I like the use of red :rotfl:
According to TRADING STANDARDS, this was a scam. TS investigated. They sent me this.....Thank you for your information in relation to the Portcreek website. I have also found a similar site at IMAP UK Ltd. Under the new Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations it is an offence to commit a misleading omission which is defined below:
Misleading omissions
6.—(1) A commercial practice is a misleading omission if, in its factual context, taking account
of the matters in paragraph (2)—
(a) the commercial practice omits material information,
(b) the commercial practice hides material information,
(c) the commercial practice provides material information in a manner which is unclear,
unintelligible, ambiguous or untimely, or
(d) the commercial practice fails to identify its commercial intent, unless this is already apparent from the context, and as a result it causes or is likely to cause the average consumer to take a transactional decision he would not have taken otherwise.
On the basis that the site you referred to could amount to a potential misleading omission I have forwarded your complaint to Hampshire Trading Standards, where Portcreek are based and Bolton Trading standards, where IMAP are based.
Well done to the people who always read all the small print all of the time. Obviously you are superior to the average consumer, but this doesn't mean the law works to your standards.
AFTER the above complaint (and others received), the portcreek website was changed to be clear. So, if you read it NOW, it's not a scam. But it was two months ago.0
