  • Sad to say this is now 2011 and this scam is still going on. To those who say it it not a scam:
    1. So why have they chosen a web addresses almost identical to the genuine one if not trying to catch people out?
    2. At £9 or £10 per application, these people are making a fortune, as it only takes a couple of minutes to copy the details into the official website and send it. That means they are charging more per hour than a solicitor - and they charge enough!

I still say it's not a scam - if it was a scam they'd take your money and NOT provide you with the card - or send you a fake card. It's a rip-off.

More a disagreement about the meaning of the words than about the nature of the companies though.
  • I have just paid £14.99 for a ehic I'm quite angry with myself as I'm usually quite vigilant on the web... I didn't know the cards were free so just googled it and it came up with a website that had nhs in its title e111-nhs.org/index.html so I presumed it was correct.... It may not be a scam but it is misleading. It definitely shouldn't be allowed. Please make sure you get yours from the nhs website or direct gov website.

A scam would take your money and fail to deliver the EHIC.

    Rip off maybe.

This site is a scam and shame the link from this website did not appear on google when I looked up for Ehic card.
I paid £9.99 for the card in March 2011 which has not been delivered yet. As I had to undertake number of trips this year and needed the card desperately, after 2 months of waiting, I found through my GP a correct website where I applied for the card which arrived within 7 working days. When I mentioned this to the scam people (in the email) and told them that I no longer want the card from them but rather expect the refund, they told me that as I already have the card (NB:I must stress, not from them) they fullfilled the order. How outrageous, they not only con people but they also take the credit for the work of other organisations!!!

Till this very day I still haven't received anything from them no card nor money.

i Agree this is a total rip off. They are charging £14.99 for a free E111 card!!!

When you see a link that contains the "NHS" letters you would not expect to be misled.

In this day and age, I think you should be suspicious of everything - check and double-check you're not being scammed, conned or ripped-off.

My student daughter has just been charged £20 for its 'fast track' service.
It's at the top of Google E111 search as an ad - and I agree that the nhs.org is the disgraceful part. I have written to OFT website and also put this site as a warning on Facebook 'copy and paste this as your status' in the hope that the message will go viral.

This is a disgrace, I have been caught out by it over the weekend having paid £19.99 to fast track an application for my 4 month old daughter. The process never actually happened, but the company, (Universal Check Services seems to be the name I have since found) have charged me the full amount regardless of the fact that they could not process it.

I have since found the official site, and spoken to a person there who says it is a big scam and they are trying to act on this to get the companies off all search engines, So it seems that the fault lies with Google et al for allowing these companies to feature so high up there search list. This company were coming out at Number 1 on the search list even yesterday eu healthcard

    Its a disgrace!!!

It is not a scam as they provide the service they offer and the charges that will be incurred. There is clear notice at the bottom of the website which states:

IMPORTANT: EHIC are a third party data processor and check and send service registered with the UK Data Protection Public Register (Number Z2497964) to collect and retain EHIC card applications. This website is not connected to or affiliated with the National Health Service, the Department of Health, the NHSBSA or any other official Government body. You can apply independently and free of charge for EHIC by visiting the official website. EHIC is a third-party data processor for European Health Insurance Card applications.
