Mutton dressed as lamb?

Goat is quite hard to describe. Its stronger than lamb but I suppose it depends on how old the goat is, as it does with sheep, ie spring lamb or autumn or mutton.
its very tasty though, and my DH who is very picky about his meat loves it, though he was a bit reluctant to try it at first. Now he trusts me and trys things before asking what it is !!

OK Nicola, I'll add some goat to my next order. Won't be for a while though, but I will report back and let you know!0 -
I buy 1/2 leg of mutton for about £7 at the local asian/halal shop and they run the saw through it to cut it into smallish pieces and cook it in the slow cooker as curry. The bones with meat on you can just nibble on and I think the juices from the long cooking help the flavour. It holds the flavours really well and there is always a couple of meals plus enough for late nite snack attacks. Much prefer to lamb. falls apart when done in slow cooker. htholympic challenge week 6 = $414.70:j

Goat curry is quite popular too - I think HFW had a recipe, will try and dig it out.
By the way, I noticed that Higher Hacknell are doing mutton now too - so maybe it is getting more popular?

I got my mutton leg here http://www.hockeysfarm.co.uk/. This is where I buy a lot of my meat, they're not organic but its free range and traditionally reared. It's a genuine farm shop and you can visit the animals on the farm when you go there. That man is richest whose pleasures are cheapest. Henry David Thoreau0
