  • Never put mine in the fridge and always do the float test and break into a small bowl before adding to rest of ingredients. Check dates but use if they don't float. Always been ok. HTH ;)

  • I just realised I have a pack of 6 eggs in the cupboard dated 17th may, I want to hardboil them and use them in salads this week, anyway, do you think they will still be ok? and if so, once boiled and sliced, how long will they last for in fridge? I'm hoping I don't have to throw out another box of eggs again lol.

yes, they will be fine. I mean, they don't pop out of the chicken with a date stamped on and the 17th was only a few days ago.

I use eggs at least 2 weeks after the date on them, shops are often over cautious these days. The floating in water test is the best one to use, regardless of the date, as above.

I`d use them too. Boil them, but don`t peel & slice them till the day you want to use them.

I'm terrible for checking dates and a complete wuss with just about anything like that. I did the float test this morning on some dated 27th May :o

I think I spend to much time on the internet and read far to much for my own good. :D
