  • OP, is there a problem with the bed being split horizontally? And have you established that it is possible to buy a king-size bed that's split vertically?

Vertically split beds are available from many internet sites.

I guess one of the advantages of a vertical split is if your partner is heavier their weight would only affect that side of the bed base.

If I was you, and you really don't want this bed, I would complete the returns and cancellation request (within 7 days i.e. NOW). Mention that you believe the product was not as described, not as per the picture shown. That the illustration shown must give a reasonable indication of what the product will look like. And that in the T&C about appearance it refers to "in particular" colour represented by a computer image/monitor may vary slightly, this sort of minor variation from the illustration would be accepted by you, but in your case the variation from the illustration was that of a different construction of bed altogether. and there was nothing to suggest that not all beds of that model would be constructed in the same way.

You therefore believe that you are entitled under the distance selling regs to a full refund inc delivery and entitled to a free collection. If you refuse to refund in full and collect the bed free of charge, it will be your intention to recover any losses.

Up to you to persue it through court or give up like millions of others do all the time. Thus allowing companies to walk all over us.

You should also print off the T&C as they appear
and print the webpage showing your model of bed.

Calling them is one thing, but if you want to reject it, they say you have to complete the online form. I've forgotton if they are legally correct that you cannot reject by phone. I should think rejection by email would be legally valid, not sure about phone.

This has been asked twice now. I too would be interested to know the issue with the horizontal split.

    See posts #12 and #14.

I think that explains possible reason though the terms horizontal and vertical don't make much sense to me in this situation.

It also seems to assume that there is no central support.
  • It also seems to assume that there is no central support.

The base of the divan is usually a frame, with central supports both vertically & horizontally. The drawers slot in between those supports ... with runners ..... hopefully ;)

Edit: This would be the case with a single base. With two bases, then the edge of each base effectively forms the support.
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
