    Horses for courses I guess.
Granted and I agree to a large degree, but being area specific, there are few independent hotels in the North West that can support spa facilities all year round. In the present financial climate, the majority are either part of a chain or management company an many have changed hands over the last few years.
The trend is for quite a few notable hotels to close their leisure facilities and transform them into meeting rooms as their guest usage can drop a low as 4% (their figures, not mine). ;)
I'm just putting some options out there.

Jersey hardly ever changes. There's some sort of limitation on planning permission so it will be surprisingly familiar.
I always recommend The Merton but there are many lovely hotels, especially at St. Brelades and Grouville.

What type of hotel are you looking for?

Ive totally forgotten the best places i liked, previously we stayed in St Helier & toured in a hire car, having flown over.
Cannot fly now as Chris has a fear of flying, she said will go on a ferry/Condor craft.
Not sure wether to take own car over or if its better to hire a car.
We could stay in St Helier & hire a car for the odd days we want to explore the island, or alternatively stay on some other area of the island having either taken our own car over or hiring for the duration.

Hotel/accomodation wise it doesn't have to be expensive/posh, as long as it has en-suite & don't mind finding food when we are out & about.

    Difficult decision...help !!
