  • For all those lucky enough to get a cheap gamecube, here is my list of must have games, some you'll get cheap others are a bit harder to find.

    1. Zelda Windwaker (special edition comes with ocarina of time) - Absolutely magnificient although some have criticised cell-shaded graphics, after the intial shock it is sheer class, the story line is top class, and Ocarina of Time is the as perfect a game as is possible.
    2. Zelda bonus disk (includes several games including ocarina master quest (never released on its own, plus majora mask, original zelda, etc), if you have been dead jammy may have got this with cheap console, else ebay.
    3. Metroid Prime (awesome adventure, shooter, puzzler solver)
    4. Metroid Prime Echoes (darker follow up to the above, larger, and in-depth let down a little by bosses who are a bit on the easy side compared to the devils on metroid prime (2 of which are a bit tricky to say the least).
    5. Resident Evil 4, horrifying good stuff, not as clumsy in control mechanism as predecessors.
    6. Mario Tennis, great fun and some super action with a mario twist, looks easy at first but is very strategic and cagey due to power shot mechanics, top multiplayer stuff, which is what Nintendo does best.
    7. FX-ZERO GX, makes gran turismo look like some OAP cruising down the motorway in a ford fiesta, at 30 mph, great stuff, blistering fast, brilliant controls, many times better than Wipeout the other well known futuristic racer.
    8. Timesplitters 2, the best of this series and almost as good as goldeneye in the N64 but not quite (same guys had input into the two). Better than Timesplitter 3 due to EA interfering with the game by adding computer controlled characters to interfere with your progress in TS3.
    9. Mario Sunshine, good old mario platformer terrific for the kids and child like adults.
    10. Mario Kart Double Dash, good multiplayer racing action, tracks leave a bit to be desired, some are a little to easy, but still to-notch entertainment, with the weapons and power-ups.

Pikmin 1 & 2, Paper Mario, Animal Crossing are all also worth a look, if the budget stretches.
Drat and Double Drat, curse that Mr T excuse for not giving me a refund.

EVERY LITTLE EXCUSE HELPS in trying to get out of the R&R policy when the law has been broken, especially on high value items. :D
  • Could anyone do me a big favour? I tried to phone but they couldnt connect to my local store, so it put me through to the main office thing, they said they couldnt check the stock after looking. Could someone else try and see if they get through and if not could you see if the people at the main place could check again.

    The branch is HOVE.

I would really, really appreciate this as the branch is a few hours away and want to make sure they have some before i go.

    The number is: 0870 609 7420

I hope you can help as im desperate to get one. Thanks you so much

    FEW HOURS?

OMG, BUY IT FROM TOYSRUS FOR £40 - £50 and get a game and memory card with it..

Come on, Logic - If you have to drive so far, what's the point?
  • Toys r us do them for £40-50 ? I can only see them on the site for £80. Is it £50 in store then?
  • Makro had them for £40+vat a little while back.
  • Yep in store I guess.

Someone posted that above in this same thread.

Should be £40 with a GC, Donkey Kong Game, Memory Card and 1/2 controllers.

To go with my cube, I bought Zelda Collector's Edition, Metroid Prime 2, and Donkey Konga 2 (with bongos). The bongos are superb and will go down well this Christmas.

Along with an RGB cable and a memory card I'm up to £80. Superb value for money.

Thanks again to the original poster.
  • Yeah, GameCube is very good value now, does anyone know where the cheapest place to get an official RGB lead is?

They're £19.99 at Amazon, and I do have a £10 voucher so I may buy from there, but it'd be nice to find them cheap elsewhere so I could use my voucher on something else..
  • I managed to get a hold of a black Gamecube from Currys for £15 :j because it was missing the cables (including mains) and the control pad, what would be the best place to get these, been on ebay but not much there, any ideas, thanks.

Gadget Guy, Argos have the controller for £3.99, you will also need a transformer/powerpack, output 12Volt 3.25 amp, part DOL-002, and an audio visual cable SNSP-015.

Ebay, car boot ,Gamestaion( who sell part exchanges and do used GCs for £35 )

  • My first money saving tip!!!

If you are looking to hook your gamecube up through a normal aerial socket on a tv instead of via scart then don't buy the official lead for £20. Hunt out a second hand N64. The leads fit either console and you can probably pick one up for less than £20.
