    Not sure I'm following here? Are you trying to play HD-DVDs on a DVD player as well?

    Sorry Marty, you are right (mind you wouldn't surprise me!) MS will be releasing built in playback for BluRay in the coming months, but not HD-DVD!

    However as per the other advice, you need either an HD-DVD compatible drive to read the format, plus some playback software that can play it back!

    no my toshiba hd dvd drive in my lappy wont play hd dvd's just normal one's...:rotfl:

    I got that. Just wondered why you were mentioning the multi region DVD player in the same sentence as saying it won't play HD DVDs. It was a bit ambiguous.

    oh sorry ...cos when you go into the settings its set for region 2 so I assumed it was also multi-regional as well as HD even if the HD doesn't work on it...

    no I was talking about the dvd payer replacing the video player sorry...
    then went back to talking about the problem with my hd drive...it does everything except play hd movies...
