As collin said. Dont be shy and tell them everything as that will determin what you get.
If you have a Disability Direct service where you live, use them as they are realy good. otherwise the CAB, Social/Workers will do it for you: all for free.
Hi Waqas,
Thank you very much for your reply, it is much appreciated, I've tried CAB and DIAL no luck, I will get a Social Worker and try Disability Direct I've never heard about them, but will give it a try.
many thanks

Just to make it clear people should detail how they are on good and bad days not just their worst days.
Hi Healy,
Thanks you very much for your reply, it is much appreciated, I am taking all the valuable reply on board and saving them all, will have a read later.

I too was refused DLA for these sorts of problems however, I had no diagnosis.
Do you have a diagnosis for your gynae probs? the reason I ask this is that my refusal came beacause I didnt have a diagnosis, so thus they couldnt say that the situiation was perm. However you have many years and operations, I had only had scoping operations and they dont seem to count.
If you do not go out alone, then it naturally follows that you do bnot need help to get out. If you see what they mean. However, there will be times you have to leave the house ( eg to go to the drs)
If like me you couldnt walk to the gps alone, then you have to say what you do in order to get yourself there. Do you have to call a taxi and get the driver to come to the door to help you in to the car and out again, EG my OH had to take time off work to get me to drs - that was taken unpaid, so therefore it "cost" us £14 ( 2 hours off work) for him to get me to drs.
In terms of the turning in bed issue, this one is difficult. I too had pain problems when turning. but it didnt mean there was anything that the DWP could do about it. If it would have been less painful to turn with a hoist for example or a carer to help, then that could have been "evidence" but In my case it was painful no matter if someone helped or was alone.
Can you make a meal alone- this is to identify really whether you need specialist equipment ( such as kettles or pans with different types of handles) or a perching stool if you cannot stand for long enough to knoack up a hot meal, or if you have to stay in bed all day then meals have to be given to you. If you do need any specalist equipment such as a perching stool you will need an assessment from Adults social services to assess the risks.
Ultimately, when you are filling the forms in ( I know this from both sides, I used to work in Adutls social services helping people fill the forms in, nad applying myself) you need to bear in mind that they will read and think, yes she may be ill ( as I was) but what will she need the DLA for- what will the money be paying for that no one else ( NHS/ Social services) fund.
I hope you get some good advice, mine failed and on reflection I didnt bother to reapply.
Hi Lynzpower,
Yes I have diagnosis my doctor has send the DWP reports, on my gynae, rhematics, panic attacks etc, but I suppose it's the way I filled in the DLA form, as mentioned before apparently the doctors report as far as the DLA are concerned are not relevant, it's their criteria that matter and of course the way the form is filled, I was told by CAB the form filling is created by some software, when they put the forms through what ever machine they use, they get the answer from that and it is a yes or no, of course if the forms are not filled properly alas! the reasons many many application failed, it need to meet their criterial, hence with mins, metres, etc, how on earth we are suppose to know especially if you are not well, anyway I will get myself a Social Worker, I had one before she was pretty helpful, this is my last try, if I don't get anywhere with DLA then i shall give up, life is too short and i am already too ill enough and coping alone with my child. It's not the money I am after, I need them to leave me alone with my pains to get on with my life without being pushed to get back to work, I've worked since I left school from the age of 16 yrs old up until year 2003, it was the Job Centre that suggested DLA, i've never heard about DLA nor know what they were.
many thanks

I had a lot of the problems you are suffering, and since my op six years ago I've never looked back.
I'm not sure how the DWP view illnesses that are controllable/curable with the right medical treatment.
Hi Bogof,
Thanks very much for your reply, it is much appreciated, I haven't discuss hysterectomy with my doctor, she is aware of my gynae problems I have suffered for years with my cycle, very painful ovulations and periods, miscarriages etc, I have a great fear of hospital and getting out and about by myself, the first two operations was life saving i've lost two unborn, so i had no choice of being frightened out of my life, when i had to go into hospital with an emergency the Registrar grab me and saying you are going to be abmitted you are a walking time bomb, i didn't realise my life was in danger, that has made my phobia and anxiety ten fold worst. I had a panic attacks when my doctor held my arm to take my blood pressure, she had to leave me alone in the room to recover alone, the fear of being held by other people frightened me. my panic attacks stem from being molested twice over when a child at the age of 3 then at 5 years old. I am still trying to get myself sorted, I was surprise i had a panic attack with my doctor she is such a kind person, but the mistake she made, she grabbed my arm unaware and straight away the room went black and i vision my attacker, i had a panic attack also when i came round from my first operation, there was so many people around the bed, i panicked and a nurse went to get the Registrar, because my pulses went rocket high, he gave me one look and told the nurse to send me straight to the ward and leave me alone to recover, my problem are so much i cannot write them all, i will get a Social Worker to help me, my last hope. You are all asking if she is so bad, she's got children, well I've fought with my fear for so long, I got worse since 2003 since my gynae problem got worst, then the panic attack started, I've worked for may years, it's so strange being at home, but i cannot do anything about it, hopefully one day i get out again, i still have alife ahead of me. a nurse did told me i am keeping everything bottled up one day it will all come out.
many thanks

Contact welfare rights at your local council, they will do an hour by hour daily routine that you have on your worst days and it has to be the worse you are. They will also file an appeal for you. With everything you have listed I'm surprised you weren't awarded middle rate care but then again it depends on who is awarding and they do say so many go into the bin without being considered, of those appeals are usually granted a rate of DLA. It's a horrible system to have to go through and the stress is terrible, just please don't give upHello Everyone,
I am new here just joined. I have been refused DLA . My problems are Rheumatism, Panic Attacks, Anxiety, Severe Gynaecological problems which I have been suffering with all for 25 years now. I have never heard of or claim DLA before, in fact it was suggested to me from the Job Centre, due to my health problems I should claim DLA, I didn't realise then that I would be climbing Mount Everest, just to get anywhere.
I've had 2 premature births, nearly loosing both children, the first I started to bleed at five months pregnant spent 2 weeks in hospital, he was born at 32 gestation, second was born at 31 weeks gestations wasn't breathing and had 50% chance of survival, I lost 2 unborn children after and had 3 operation in 4 years, I've had a scan 4 years ago due to excruciating pains in my pelvic which my doctors thought might be cancer, thanks god it wasn't. Anyway 3 weeks in a months I am very ill, I suffer several blinding migraines throught the day and night, it's contant for 2 weeks before my period is due and during the week of my period, I cannot walk or go out at all with severe bad cramping pains in my pelvis, which my doctors knows, I've seek help from DIAL the lady filled in my form but i've still been refused.
Here is a breakdown of refusal,
Help with getting around outdoors, I told the DWP that i do not go out at all, apparently i am suppose to write down how many steps metres or minutes i walk before feeling severe pains, i just didn't know i had to write this down, as i do not go out, how i am suppose to count the minutes.
Guidance and Supervision
need help because of anxiety and panic attacks, again i do not know what they want me to right.
Preparing a cooked Meal
Help During the Day
Personal care with bathing,
get in and out of bed
dress and undress
During the night
Toilet needs
adjust bed cover
turning over, whenever i turnover i end up with excruciating pains which I suffer last night.
The lists are so long guys, apart from me being very ill at the moment and not wanting to take anymore of anyone's time. I cut this story short, i am appealing at the moment and the DWP told me to write a re-consideration letter stating more clearly my problems, again I have not a clue what to write, please if anyone have similar problem as myself and can help me, it would be much appreciated, i know everyone has different problems , but i feel the DLA have one system and criteria how the form should be filled, how in gods name they expect very sick people to know how to fill in the form appropriately.
Please please help me, I am thinking of getting a Social Worker to help me as I just cannot cope on my own, I have my 14 years old boy to take care of also.
Many thanks in advance
Best regards

It would be wrong to detail only the worst days.0 -

I can assure you that this is not the case....it is a person who looks at each individual claim and they do look at doctor's reports when supplied, not some 'machine' doing it
Yet again the CAB talking about things they do not know about I'm afraid.
All the best0 -

Hi
just read your posting re ...DLA ...this usually happens with all applications forms so you need to keep going with it......If you contact your local Social Work depat or citizens advice they will help you to complete the forms and use the right jarjon that's needed.....also remember you need the emotional support to overcome the difficulties you face.....remember to quote that ...good luck.... :T

should have taken sorry this post is a bit long winded but I felt so aggrieved at the way I have been treated by a system that will, it seems give more to some people who simply know the system AND work it to their own advantage, and a lot of genuine claims are simply brushed aside. When I phoned they had someone phone me back and as I just got out the shower could barely speak as c.o.p.d. and asthma were playing up the lady was certainly very sympathetic but said I was sent a letter a month ago which I did not received I asked her who made the decision di a doctor go through the forms but she said no it was just office staff NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! sorry but when I hear of the millions of pounds going to unlawful multiple claims it makes my blood boil how can these decisions be taken by an office administrator?? If it wasn`t so serious it could be funny but not for the poor sods left to just "get on with it" no wonder this country is perceived as such a "soft touch" to foreigners. The DWP should be overhauled completely and all claims assesed if no doctors visited or sent letters of support God help us becaue it seems you work all your life and when the going get tough and you need help its simply not there Time to rethink this totally unfair system There I`ve vented some anger funny it doesn`t make me feel any better tthanks for listening anyway0
