Just look at her wee face - gorgeous, what a heartbreaker. She looks so placid and good natured. I agree with the previous poster give her lots of cuddles:D

PS Notice I'm using she not he. With her wee face I could not use he/boy/lad:D

It can take a while for dogs to settle in, especially rescue dogs. It might just be her getting used to new food and a new routine, and of course being left too.

Like others have said, back to basics with the toilet training, outside every hour or so, and go/stay with her. You're looking for opportunities to praise (& treat!) her for doing the right thing.

I wouldn't leave the door open for her - on a couple of dog forums I'm on people think that an open door doesn't help the dog distinguish between inside and outside. And of course if she does wonder outside, you won't be there to praise her!

I know lots of people use newspaper successfully, but you're teaching the dog that it's OK to go inside, then you'll have to retrain to go outside. Better to start as you mean to go on.

Once she's reliably going outside, you can give her a cue word. Naturally, I chose 'wee wee', but was a trifle embarrassed when we were in the pub one evening, walked outside with Tilly and asked her if she wanted a drink or a wee wee (yes I do talk to her like a person!) and a rather deep voice replied that he'd have a drink but was alright for the other!!! :rotfl:

keep up the regular visits to the garden, and the big fuss, praise, treats every time she goes outside - it will soon all come right! Is she a dog de bordeaux? I cant work out her size from the piccies!

Your dog is gorgeous, we took on a dog of 7 yearslast year and he did not know how to play and yes we had problems with him soiling in the house. There did not seem to be any pattern to when he would poo or pee indoors either. But after a few weeks he stopped soiling indoors, just by doing what has been suggested, retraining and plenty of praise. 1 year on and and he now knows how to play, but we have to keep working on this as it does not come easy to him.

You are doing everything right, and you will see results just keep up the good work. Love and praise are the best things for her. Good luck.

oh she's lovely, is she a dog de bordeaux,? my brother inlaw has a one and she's huge...my neighbour used to have one, they are big beautiful dogs well done for adopting her, :beer:

Thanks everyone yes she is a dogue de bordeaux.. bout the size of a labbie.. been with us a week and half now much better at playing learning new stuff everyday... still struggling with the toilet biggest problem is there is no set time when she goes (if you get what i mean!!!) oh well keep going!!

Are you feeding at regular times? This might help in setting her a set routine - same with walks try and do them the same times to help her.
If she's come from kennels you probably will find that it takes her a little while but don't worry - it will come in time!
Kira came from kennels and we had some accidents in the early days - for us a crate worked as she was VERY destructive when left but she viewed the kennel as her den eventually and would go in there to get some peace and quiet bless her

seriously she is absolutley gorgeous, it will just take time, we bought our puppys a spray thats meant to train them where to go and sprayed it on the place we wanted them everytime we took them there and that is where they now go, wethere it was the spray or just kept taking them there im not sure but it seemed to work for us
