OS Daily Thread Sat 20th September

Hi,This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Good morning everyone

Well, I think it's official. I am nocturnal now. I just don't get any work done during the day :)

But the good news is is that Dr Jeckyll has disappeared for a month to about as far away from me as he can actually go without one of us joining NASA. And my thesis will be in before he gets back :) So I might never see him again :) Woo hoo!

Job application went in last night after a week of panicing about my CV, covering letter and everything - now I just have to wait (closing date is the 30th)

I made chocolate muffins and syrup pudding yesterday - but as I'm shattered, I think it will be egg and chips for tea :)

have a good day all, cel x

  • Hi celyn and everyone who follows!

Well, you guessed it, my OH woke me up climbing into bed. Well, actually it was the fact that he kicked the chair and then complained loudly that woke me!

Wanted to share some pics with you. I picked another 4lbs of cherry tomatoes yesterday and nearly a lb of them were ripe. However, during the process I came across these lil darlings..

Possibly the smallest ripe tomato I have ever seen!! (That is a 5p peice so you can judge the size!)

Apparently if you click the small pic, a bigger one is supposed to open (thank you MrsM for helping me with that). Anyway, hope that raised a smile or two with someone!

Jessbrown - Congratulations!!! Big hugs to you honey, Enjoy this special time and show a pic of little Leon as soon as!
Busygirl - oh you poor ole spotty thing!! Hope you get better soon.
Sassymoneysaver - Welcome to the thread, everyone is really nice here! (well, mostly!! *giggles*:rotfl: :rotfl: )

I hope everyone has a good day

*hugs* to all who need them and congratulations to anyone who is celebrating something today.

  • Good morning everyone  I'm up at silly o'clock for some reason :o I'm having a cup of tea, then back to bed for an hour ;) It's my choir concert tonight, an I'm having some friends for supper (veggie chilli and toffee apple tart :T ) then off to the pub

DS is doing a 25 mile walk with an overnight camp with scouts. DD is away to a birthday party.

We're having beautiful weather, so I hope to be out in the garden again. I've been harvesting apples, tomatoes, cucumber, beans.

Diva - love the tomatoes - do you have some huge ones

Haribo - huge hugs for you

Smokey - great to see you posting

Have a great day, Penny. x

    Morning.

Looks to be a potentially nice day.
We are off to Penzance to visit the sister in law. They bought a disused quarry which has beach access. So it's quite a setting really as you can sit on a deck they built drinking pimms with a view of St Micheals mount and 1 minute walk to a beach. I think we are doing a late BBQ and spot of dinghy fishing.
ADSA was a bore last night, most of the things I wanted were out of stock. Huge gaps in the frozen stuff.

Well think I will pour a coffee and clean out the hen house when the sun comes up.

    Cheers

God morning everyone. Looks like good weather for us all for the weekend - it's about time!

I am gradually getting my PC back up to scratch since it crashed on Thursday. I thought I'd lose loads of stuff; in fact I lost all my photos in one place that I had stored them but found them all on Picasa (not that I know how that works yet!). DS1 is going to come round and show me how to save and back things up so that, if it crashes again, it's more survivable. The bonus is that everything looks as it should; DS2 was always telling me 'your pages shouldn't look like that!'. He couldn't understand why my Facebook page looked completely different from everyone else's! Anyway, by the end of the weekend I should be back to normal. I lost all my 'favourites' though and I'm really mad about that!

Note to all Wooligans - I thought I couldn't get back on to the Yahoo group because the internet disconnected every time I tried, but I discovered that I can get on to it via Internet Explorer.

Today I need to make some cakes; we're having a quick Spaghetti Carbonara for dinner; I was going to make it last night but it's such a quick meal that I'm doing it tonight so that I can sit down in time for Strictly.

I also need to visit the bottle bank - I have loads of bottles and jars to get rid of and I also need to go to the shop and get some sugar. I did all my food shopping yesterday but forgot the sugar for some reason.

DS1 still has a cold; he wasn't too good when he came round to sort out my PC crash. He's supposed to running a half-marathon tomorrow and giving blood and platelets on Monday but he won't be able to do either, now. He's had a couple of Lemsips and, to give platelets, you need to have at least five days without taking things like that. He's arranged to do it next week. I'm hoping the pneumonia jab I had the other day will stop me getting his cold! I felt awful when he went home because I used some anti-bacterial spray to clean all the bits of the computer he had touched but I don't want to get his cold!

(((Hugs))) to Smoky, PenPin, Beth and her family, Candygirl's Mum and Dad, Essex-girl's Dad and all the poorly ones today.

    Churchmouse - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, I'm going to have a mooch around here then have a shower.

    See you all later.

  • Good Morning All

    Nice toms Diva

Mioliere, at the beginning of September I started taking Echinacea again to stop getting colds it worked last year hope it does the same this year.

Woke with a headache so have taken some tablets and waiting for it to go off, should have put some washng in by now but will do it in a min when I feel better.

Going to working in my office today getting end of year done so it can go to the accountants on Monday, not a nice way to spend Saturday but I know I will feel brilliant when its done.

Had a good meeting with our client yesterday, looks like we will have some more work in 2 weeks so that is really good news.

Cant wait for Strictly tonight and the big football match tomorow (Chelsea v Man U) so will be in front of the telly this weekend.

Think is chicken in pitta bread for tea.

    Have a great Saturday.

  • Morning all,

been awake since about 5.30, had a cuppa & sitting back in bed. Might see if I can doze back off but not sure if I'll be able to.
Celyn, good news about Dr Jekyll then - & everything crossed for your job application.
Diva, those tomatoes are sooooo cute, lol!!!
N9eav, sounds like you are in for a nice day too, sounds very scenic & peaceful.

Think today I'll try & get sheets out on the line as it's looking promising outside. Just me & youngest DD so we'll be putting Ikea wardrobes together between us, then I'll HAVE to iron a few things (we don't do ironing in this house, lol!!) before I hang them up, but should make it easier to see what we've got. Must get other half of a pork joint out the freezer for tomorrow's supper, and think about something easy for later.

Sure there is more but brain not up & running yet... back later.

    Morning all,

Thanks so much for all the lovely pm's. I'll reply to you all once I'm properly awake. I'm feeling a bit better today...I don't have time to cry anymore. :o Ds1 is off to rugby and dd is off to work so I've cooked them both breakfast, going to do the dishes in a minute then try to get the house tidied up before I do more packing.

No idea what to make for tea tonight. I suppose I need to go and look in the freezer to see what I can make. If dd is home this evening I'll make a lasagne as that's one of her favourites.

I hope everyone has a good day.
