    Hi Lilmoi

How did you know I was thinking of posting an update to you?

I had another go at doing layers but got in abit of a mess so decided to leave it until my head was abit clearer (been fighting a bad cold for nearly a fortnight).

I'm hoping to have a go at reducing the size etc. over the weekend and will let you know how I get on next week.

I think I might have a couple more questions to ask by then as well (if that's okay).

    Thank you for your support

no worries, get well soon xx

Hi Lilmoi, I had another go at imposing a picture on a picture again by using layers.
I managed to resize one of them successfully following your suggestion about the Deformation tool.

    Some queries are:

    1) Do your pictures have to be in any particular format before you start (BMap, JPEG etc.)?
    2) What format do you save them in? I get this error message (because of the limitations of the specified file format (and possibly the save options you've selected), the saved file will be limited to a merged image. Would you like to continue? )
    3) When erasing, what's the best way of going round tricky shapes eg. people - what techniques do you use?
    4) How do you move between the 2 pictures, I kept losing track of them?
    5) I got this error message when closing PaintshopPro (You have placed a large amount of data in the clipboard. This data may take up quite abit of memory and could degrade system performance if left on the clipboard. Would you like to leave this data on the clipboard so that it will be available to other applications?). I just selected No.

    Sorry for all the questions!

RWaite, wish I could go on a course, good luck with it!
  • Hi - just been taking a look around the forums and noticed you all discussing imposing pictures onto others, etc. My friend has a fantastic site at www.photofairytales.co.uk. Don't mean this to be a blatant plug - but at least I can say she doesn't know I'm doing this...! She's cheaper than other sites (and we all like saving money don't we?!), and you should definitely check her site out. Great for Christmas! The pics she does are gorgeous. She's done lots of pictures for parents and others in the village, and I'm so pleased she's branched out finally and started doing this for a business. (About time babes! :T )

She's a lovely lady and will do a great picture for you - take a look! Oh, I think she might be doing some sort of freebie at the moment too...

I think everyone's trying to learn how to do it themselves so that money can be saved. That's defaintely what i'm doing anyway.
  • OK, fair enough. Just thought I would let you know in case it helps... Not everyone will want to, or be able to, do it themselves - I just know she takes a lot of time and effort over her work.

If you do end up doing it yourself just promise you won't go copying hers though! :naughty: x
  • I'm offering advice for free and helping out if anyone gets too stuck or pulling their hair out - can i plug that? LOL

I can vouch for that (thumbs up link not working?). You have definitely helped me alot already.

I am still struggling on question numbers 1 and 2 I asked recently if anyone can help, PLEASE?

I THINK that for question 5 the answer is to go to Edit, select Empty, select Clipboard.
  • in answer to your q's

    1) Do your pictures have to be in any particular format before you start (BMap, JPEG etc.)? - you can use any picture format at the beginning, once completed i like to save in PNG format as the quality looks better (though it does make the file size quite large)
    2) What format do you save them in? I get this error message (because of the limitations of the specified file format (and possibly the save options you've selected), the saved file will be limited to a merged image. Would you like to continue? ) -i like to save in PNG format as the quality looks better (though it does make the file size quite large) - if you are not finished merging layers or think you may want to change something save it as a PSP format as this allows you to continue where you left off. - merged files mean you only have one layer :D
    3) When erasing, what's the best way of going round tricky shapes eg. people - what techniques do you use? - change the erarer size to the smallest you can or try the cutting tool at this point (zoom in to get a good finish)
    4) How do you move between the 2 pictures, I kept losing track of them? -use the layer palette tool box to switch, if you make a mistake hit CTRL & Z to undo.
    5) I got this error message when closing PaintshopPro (You have placed a large amount of data in the clipboard. This data may take up quite abit of memory and could degrade system performance if left on the clipboard. Would you like to leave this data on the clipboard so that it will be available to other applications?). I just selected No. - correct! lol
