Thanks for that. I've got my two photos and am in the process of using layers (managed to locate the Layer Palette so that I could change the opacity).
It is quite fiddly though. I'm about to zoom in and try erasing - will let you know how I get on tomorrow.

I have a quick query though, I've read somewhere that you can cut sections from a picture (eg a person's head) and use this on another picture (eg. celebrity picture). Is a different procedure used for this?

Thanks for your help so far

It's a shame peope have to spam!!!
  • it is.

I8stress - you can use the cutting tool but its quite fiddly to use in my own opinion but have a go at it - you just select the cutting tool from the menu and trace around the area you want to use - when doing this you have to do it in one go (dont let go of your left cursor key!) or you wont end up with the selection you wanted.

Thanks Lilmoi. I've had a quick go at both options (I googled 'how to cutout photos' and managed to get some instructions).

The layers one I did looks abit odd as the person is smaller than the other photo I added it to. Also I wasn't quite sure which of the 2 photos to choose as the top layer.
You mentioned changing the eraser size to small - can you tell me how this is done please?

The cutout one I did using the 'smart edge' option is quite good but has added a bumpy edge in places. I zoomed in and tried to erase this but found it hard to target the pixels.

I know I just need to practice! Thanks for all your good advice so far.

Lilmoi, I've managed to find out how to change the size of the eraser tool - a little box popped up at the bottom of the screen whilst I was using it. I just need to discover how to make things the same size now!
  • there is a tool called 'deformation which you can use to make images bigger / smaller / taller / wider etc when you are dealing with layers.

when you select this it will draw a box around the image while using the tool and you can stretch the corners.

also, may be worth starting over and before copying and pasting the new layer you can click on Image then Resize and adjust the size of the image there.

    hope this helps xxx

Thanks for that, Lilmoi. I'll give it a go.

(I tried using the thank you button but for some reason alot of things don't seem to be working at the moment eg. when I select quick links - don't know if it's this site or my computer?).
  • ih8stress - any luck on the image front?

    Hi Lilmoi

How did you know I was thinking of posting an update to you?

I had another go at doing layers but got in abit of a mess so decided to leave it until my head was abit clearer (been fighting a bad cold for nearly a fortnight).

I'm hoping to have a go at reducing the size etc. over the weekend and will let you know how I get on next week.

I think I might have a couple more questions to ask by then as well (if that's okay).

    Thank you for your support

I've found this website that i'm going to use for some Christmas presents. Not sure if it's any help to anyone.

    http://www.enhance-me.com/index.html

It seems quite a good price compared to Truprint. xxx

I've used that site, I was really impressed with my pics. :D
