  • I was given one of these last xmas - I'm not really a gamer, but do find the older systems tend to be more 'fun' - less emphasis on the graphics and more on the game.

The price is fantastic, and would make an excellent gift for kids and adults alike IMO.

For games, blockbuster is actually pretty good - I think most stores now have 'gamestation' inside, which generally has a huge selection of pre-owned PSOne games for between £1.99 and £4.99.

Just bought the same deal from Currys, which is the same as Dixons so don't forget to check Currys if you're after one!

At approx. 2.30pm they still had 2 in stock in Currys Edge Lane Liverpool, and 2 in Currys Aintree Liverpool. Never checked for Dixons City Centre.

Once the staff saw how good a deal they were they were all tempted though so ring first and be quick!!!

Well on the curry's system its £69.99 & 29.99 on the pcworld database so i'm not sure how you got it for £14.99?

I phoned Dixons and had a guy checking the stock status in my local area and after a long wait, he told me that there were three in Edge Lane and two in Aintree. As Edge Lane is closer to me I asked him to reserve one there for me. He put me through to an SA in Edge Lane and I asked her to keep one for me, to collect about half an hour later.

When I got to Edge Lane, there was no Dixons to be found anywhere!!! So I thought I'd go and check in Currys. Spoke to an SA and he said that they were the same as Currys and that there were three PSones in stock. Another SA went off to get one for me. Brought it back and it scanned through, it went through @ £14.99, they didn't have to override it or anything.

So my guess is that when I phoned Dixons to check the stock in my area, whatever software they use brings up all the stores whether Dixons or Currys. Either that or he used the software wrongly.

Whatever happened, I can guarantee that I got it from Currys @ £14.99, no hassle whatsoever. Can scan in the till receipt for anyone who wants to see it ;)

Have just ordered the one at great universal hope it is the slimline one, says it takes up to 4 weeks to come. With the 20% off and £2 cash back to spend only works out at £14.

Got one from my local Dixons today - conversation made me smile! :D

    I rang them first................
Me: "Do you have any PSones please?"
    Him: "Let me just check."
    *tapping noises*
Him:".........hello? Er......... we do actually have 2 in stock. Just in, I think they must be clearance deals......... "*sounds bewildered*
Me: "Can you confirm the price please?"
Him: "£14.99. We used to sell the games for more than that!"
Me: "Yes, I heard about this online. Could you please put one on one side for me?"

When I go to collect it, it's a different guy at the counter.

Him:"Oh, this says PSone starter pack, must be it." Scans it and his face freezes, while his head tilts.
Me: "That's the right price, yes"
Him: "What price did you think it was going to be......?"
    Me: "£14.99"
Him: "Bloody hell! You know you get 2 analogue controllers and a memory card too? Is this the right price?"
Me: "You've taken the payment, it's all mine, thanks very much!""

*skips off to game where they are currently selling cool 2nd hand PSone games 5 for £10*

Cheers to OP - I could not be more pleased :T
