    I'm so glad I'm with E7. 1a_y_grin.gif

  • Well i have just signed up with them

Reason be just changed from NTL who i should have changed from a long time ago!! Had full internet, telephone and TV package with them.

Switching to sky and bulldog (for broadband and telephone line rental) but this now worries me

Reading round there are mixed reports people who have been treated like rubbish and others who have no problem.

Reason i choose Bulldog was 8mb d/l speed which i know i won't achieve unless i am next door to the server and unlimited d/l's no cap.

Seen as i do a lot of file sharing this is why i went for them. But i thought price of line rental and internet package of 8meg was a good deal at £32/month

Just to ask will i be able t override codes on the landline the likes of - 1899 and companies like Call18866 or Call18185?

Only thing that worries me it is a 6 month contract

You don't need to be next to the exchange to achieve 8Mbps - you could be over 1.5km away (line distance) and still get 8Mbps downstream.

In terms of re-directing your calls to 1899, 18185, 18866, etc etc - don't count on it. I was with Bulldog to try them out (being 1 month contract, £1 to install new line, and first month completely free) - and their DNS is rubbish, so browsing to web-pages etc was slow. None of the above call carriers were accessible on Bulldog (I also tried the 0800 numbers, but they were also blocked). - Bulldog make this pretty clear in the T&C's that they will bar access to all manner of in-direct call carriers, calling cards and alike.

Thanks for that can still cancel then.

Who would you recommend? Want fast connection with unlimited downloads if possible. Woul you recommend installing just a bt line then looking for a broadband supplier?

Yes, Freedom 2 Surf, Zen Broadband, Force 9 or similar.

I have been with bulldog for just about a year now and there service has been great.

Admittedly I was a new connection as I had been with NTL so I didnt have to port the line from BT to bulldog - which is where most people seem to have an issue. But I have only ever had one issue - begining of december I noticed my line was maxing out at about 512kbs, previously it had been 7000kbs. I phoned up customer care - held for about 15 minutes, got told an engeneer would either phone me back (hopefully) that night or sometime during the next day - needless to say I didnt hold my breath.

Low an behold - guy phones back about 2 hours later - fixed in about 15 minutes - due to a fault in the DSLAM card at the exchange that needed a reboot. Couldnt have asked for better service - far better than I ever got at NTL - who 1) never answered the phone in less than 20 minutes (unless they where trying to take your money or sell you something) 2) never phoned you back when they said they would.

Agree with competitionscafe, although change Force9 to PlusNet - they're one and the same ISP, but PlusNet being the parent ISP seem to get the added extras before the vISP's - such as PlusTalk, Wireless Roaming on BTopenzone's etc etc.

Based on personal experience, I'd also recommend Be* @ £24 for up to 24Mbps unlimited. https://www.bethere.co.uk; if they're available at your exchange.

If you want fast speeds, in excess of the standard BTw 2Mbps then see if any other providers are providing an LLU service at your exchange. See this post for details:- http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=1448979#post1448979
