Hiya, I have just taken mine out of my MRFB and it looks amazing, and the house smells delicious - like Marmite on toast. We are going to try ours as the bread for old english sausage and cheese sandwiches tonight (not exactly a proper meal but I really wanted to try out the bread :D), but if there is any left tomorrow I think it will be good for cheese sandwiches.

Here is the recipe - let me know how you get on:

    Marmite loaf:
    3 tsp Marmite
    1 tbsp hot water
    275ml cold water less 1tbsp
    2 tbsp oil
450g soft grain strong white bread flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    1 1/2 tsp caster sugar
1/2 tsp instant or fast-acting dried yeast

Mix the marmite in the hot water.

Add to breadmaker with the cold water.

Add oil and half the flour

Add salt and sugar, then rest of flour, then yeast on top.

Turn bread maker on to basic white.

Is this recipe for a 1 1/2 lb or 2 lb loaf....I LOVE marmite and my mouth is watering just thinking about it so thanks for the recipe!!:T

    Hi

You're very welcome. This recipe is for a 1 1/2 loaf.

I'm sorry Pretani - I completely forgot

I have made it a couple more times too, and it comes out perfect everytime - even with the children's "help" :D Here it is:

    Pizza Dough
    275ml water
    2tbsp olive oil
    450g strong white bread flour
    2tsp salt
    2tsp caster sugar
    7g sachet dried yeast

Pour in the water, oil, then half the flour.
Add the salt, sugar, then the remaining flour.
Put the yeast on top, and set the breadmaker to dough.
When the programme is finished, knead the dough and divide into two (makes two large pizzas)
roll out, put on an oiled tray and top with passata or tomato puree (I make my own tomato sauce from onion, tomatoes, garlic and olive oil)
Put in the fridge for half an hour (makes the pizza extra crispy)
Top with what ever you choose and bake on 220 for 20-25 minutes unitl the pizza is well risen (mine only takes 15-20).

Also, HOORAY FOR EBAY!!!! I have managed to buy a copy of the book for £5.99 - so far I have only found used copies which are sold for more than the original price because it is out of print. For anyone else that's interested, there is another copy of the book (currently at £4.99) which finishes tomorrow.

I have a garlic butter loaf baking as I type. Mmmm ... smells gorgeous :)
  • Made a fab Cheese and herb Bread last night (by hand) and was so impressed with it i even took a picture on my phone to show the school mum's this morning!

It makes a large round loaf, cooked on a tray and although you need to be organised to allow the time for resting i was most inpressed.
The kneading part i did in my kenwood, so no hard work either!

It is from Mary Berrys complete cook book page 374
