Sharing Christmas presents ideas

Options
Hi everyone,
I would appreciate if you could share with me what are going to get your husbands for Christmas.
My husband is pretty simple guy, the only gadgets he has are PSP (last years present), which he only uses when he goes away over night for work and BlackBerry, which he uses for work. I don't think games would really take his breath away. His only hobby is mountain biking, but he is only good weather biker (though he still goes out for pint after the rest of the group finished their ride:D ). I buy him all sort of puzzles every year as that is the kind of thing he likes, but that is not going to fill the space under the Christmas tree.
So I was hoping, that if we share ideas of presents, it might benefit to some of us because someone will think of something that would not occur the other person at all!:T
Of course we don't have to only share ideas about hubbie presents, we can also share ideas for sisters, mothers, brothers, daughters, nieces... Basically, whoever you are buying for!

Thank you
xx

  • Any idea of a budget? Because it could be anything from an all expenses trip to NY or a pair of bar ends for the bike...

  • I find it realy boring shopping for my husband. I always seem to get him dvds and they are just boring to wrap and open and not that exciting so last year I did him a movie hamper with one dvd and added all his fave nibbles like pringles, a couple of bottles of beer and some minstrels and then with his transformers dvd I made a transformer dvd I found all things transformer related(cheap bargains on ebay mostly), I added transformer car freshners, transformer chocolates, transformer bubble bath, etc; made it a bit more fun for me and he liked it all. It helped bulk out his presents a bit too.
  • Hi there,

For my OH I am buying him his motorbike license (CBT) and probably 5 lessons aswell then doing a newcastle united hamper from the children for him and he will have a stocking aswell. I might stretch to buy him a new came for either his xbox or ps3.
My mum and MIL2 I have made a sanctuary hamper
My dad and step mum I don't have a clue (they live in bulgaria)
My Gran I have made up a small hamper and some PJ's
My aunt and uncle I am thinking about buying a digital photo frame for them
My other aunt and uncle have a fairtrade tea hamper
My grandad has a fairtrade tea hamper
My FIL & MIL1 I am making up little hampers - MIL will have smellys and some silk PJ's and FIL will have a wine & spirits hamper with nuts and a small scrapbook and then I need to get him something else to sit underneath.
Sisters and brothers and inlaw siblings are having a sweety compartment box with £10 in aswell. (can't do these til nearer christmas or sweets go soggy/hard)

Think that is about it lol ... well apart from our 2 children but they have loads already too much to list.
The ones in BOLD I have already done and wrapped :D

  • I think OH's have this plumbed in at birth! Us women are fairly easy to buy for but I struggle like hell for most of the men in our family!

Oh keeps mentioning he wants a motorbike so thought this would be a good route for me to go down. its a little boring as he can't really open much on the day but he will love it.

My OH said a few weeks ago that so far I have done well with him as he aint easy to buy for as if he wants anything then he just goes out and buys it. so fingers crossed he won't just go out and buy this cbt course lol

As far as males go in my family I'm getting/got:

My Dad: Shameless Season 5, Benidorm Series 1, a new wallet and some retro sweets.
My Brother: Autoglym valeting kit for his minis.
My Boyfriend: Getting him a bunch of DVDs he wants, some new wheel trims and I've got a storage box from £1 land I'm slowly filling with smellies ect.
My sisters boyfriend: Getting him the biggest box of diet coke i can afford.

    The ladies in my family!!

Mum: A book called 'all about me' and another 2. Some elderflower and fruit tea with a mug and tickets to see finding nemo on ice.
Sister: Tickets to go see finding nemo on ice, a disney couture necklace and some barbie perfume(joke gift)
My brothers girlfriend: Build a bear of a border collie cause she loves her dog.(if they still have them in!)

For my grandparents I've got them some towels from matalan that say 'home sweet home.' a new tea tray with 2 mugs, tea bag holder, yorkshire tea bags and some marzipan fruits.
  • Anything from firebox works for my Oh as he is such a big kid. Failing that Warhammer works well (as long as I get a list of the bits he needs first) if not I get him dvds and xbox games. Anything iron maiden (last year I got him an iron maiden jacket!) Anything with a monkey on works as well (his nickname is monkey boy!!)

    Thank you all!
Matimage - I think I am willing to spend as much as £300 on my hubbie. But I always plan to spend certain amount on each person and then it gets all mixed up:-)

Scattimam and RoxieG - Than you, it's nice to know that I am not the only one strugling with ideas for hubbie. Man are such a pain! Especially mine, if he wants something he just goes and buys it. He earns quite good money so it is not like I can save up and buy him his dream watch or something, as he just goes and buys it himself when he feels like it.

So far I decided that I am going to use Direct Cosmetics websites to buy for the women. For my 2 best friends and mum. My mum loves perfumes and she lives in Czech and doesn't have spare cash for luxuries, so I am going to spoil her with that. My first best friend likes perfume Gucci Rush 2, so I will get her that. My other best friend uses Elizabeth Arden, so I will buy her some gift box of that as she swears by that cosmetic. If she is moved in her house new house by then, I might buy her some pretty dishes instead though. So, girls are O.K. Easy to shop for.

My best friends husband is ice hockey player and loves football (they also lives in Czech and we are going to spend Xmas with them), so I will dispatch hubbie to get him some football stuff. Probably Manchester United top and shorts or something, as he can do his training in that.

My father, brother (difficult man, but usually says what he wants) and sister (rich, has just about anything you can think of) and hubbie are the problem for me.

He sounds just like my husband - he's totally into Transformers! And BMX's - he's an 80's kid! LOL
  • I have normally started buying by now but I'm a bit slower this year. My husband is pretty easy to buy for he loves rugby, his ipod, music, coffee, red wine, reading, the list goes on. This year I have decided on the following:

Hubs - travel IPOD speaker, Ospreys new jersey, pop art picture of the children (Andy Warhol) type and I will probably make him up a hamper of a sporting autobiography, his favourite coffee & wine, chocolate, cd's etc.

My boys aged 5 & 2 - a nintendo wii and some games as for the rest its ??????????????????????? they have absolutely everything. As long as its Mickey mouse related they are happy. Going to have a good look around tonight for ideas and write them down.

MIL - is having a reading hamper and i've started collecting the bits. I'm also buying the Grandmothers Journal as she enjoys writing. This is a book that allows her to write about her life and she can then pass it on to her grandchildren.

Everyone else is getting a hamper this year with sock monkeys inside. I've got so many to buy for in the family its ridiculous.

Last year I designed photo books for grandparents and parents and they were a great success. Don't know if I might do them again this year as the children have grown up so much.

Any - I noticed you said your husband enjoys cycling does he have an IPOD (or is this too dangerous when cycling). I bought my husbands straight from the Apple online store and they offer free engraving on the back - he really liked that because the childrens names are on it. Or how about a personalised pop art print - don't know if this is your taste though. Personally I love them. Or how about a caricature from https://www.drawme.co.uk. I'm about to order one of these for my cousin who is getting married in Gretna next month.
