Ebay and GHD Straighteners
Comments

Heya, I found this post as the same thing has happened to my wife. She bought an item on 'buyout' and simply as most do went straight to the payment. A day later when she went to look at the listing she had bought the item had dissapeared. She knew this listing to be a UK user, we was told she had her account accessed by a third party. In other words the seller wasn't doing enough to protect their (her) eBay account and as a result we are paying the consequences, which I find VERY unfair.
She contacted all parties involved, eBay, Paypal, the seller, her bank, and just kept going around in circles. Anyway, after 5-6 days of waiting for a proper reply from any of them (and going red with fury), miraculously the GHDs arrive from SHANGAI, CHINA.
I got in touch with paypal and have sent a nasty email to all concerned. See, these GHD Straighteners are for our daughter whos 15th birthday is in little less than a week, so we dont have enough time to send them back, but I live with the conscience of knowing that they could very well be fake, in fact, I am 99% sure they are (even though my wife points out that a certificate of authenticity arrived with the product).
Now I dont know what to do, some cheeky **** has got her money and I live in worry that these hair straighteners, if they are fake like I suspect, could either damager her hair, or worse, could damage her health as they are unsafe.
What I fear more is not getting my daughter the one present she wanted for her birthday. I'm stuck in catch 22, should I carry on my pursuit with Paypal and eBay or just give up and call it an eBay learning experience?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

I personally wouldnt use them...they will be faulty in some way...i posted a thread on here a few weeks back advising people not to buy them as they are either fakes and/or faulty....if you try to return them for a refund they then get stopped by chinese customs as electrical goods are prohibited, so the company thats ripped you off will simple deny receipt and deny you a refund (and so will RM, if you try and go down that route)
EBay and PP are your only hope for a refund because you were sold fake goods0 -
Not sure if you're mate is interested but my OH has some GHD's and got a pair of JML ones for her birthday.
Said the JML one's are actually really good and these are quite cheap on ebay.

I am unsure what i was supposed to be self promoting.
Yes you can do chargebacks with debit cards and my chargeback which was with a visa debit card was for £56.46 when i was ripped off, I was repaid my money and paypal reopened the dispute, Which they would have let malinger if i hadn't paid with my debit card. (solo, and maestro differ with there terms)
I am glad it worked out for your friend in the end.:T0
