I wouldn't bypass paypal personally... UNTIL they have failed to acquire a refund.
There is another poster here who has had her PP account shut down for doing so.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
The bank say that they can't help at all, that she is not covered as it is a Solo account
When paypal say that they can't do anything either it is a bad bad situation.0 -

Yeah... but you need to know if it's a failed dispute, or just what some muppet on the phone has said.My TV is broken!

On my instructions they have now escalated to a claim
Will see what happens.0 -

I would bypass paypal and tell her go straight (no pun intended:rotfl: ) to her bank.
That only applies to credit card transactions not debit card transactions (as noted in the first post), plus I do believe the amount has to be above £100 before you can make a claim through your credit card. [I'd also note that you aren't allowed self promotion on these forums]Cute_n_Quirky wrote: »As I already said she did pay with paypal.
Now to be eligible for the buyer protection, you had to check out through eBay and pay via paypal. You would not be covered if the payment was made as a personal payment or for an item, it has to be listed and directly linked to the ebay listing. I would raise a claim with both paypal and ebay, as you should still have a note in the ebay account that you have won this auction, so raise a claim with both paypal A|ND ebay (altho they are essentially the same company). Do it asap, and note down everything as clearly and concisely, making sure you have a copy of all communication between buyer and seller and buy and paypal/ebay. Explicitly noted down the transaction ID and the ebay item number and seller ID, then altho it has been deleted from the public view ebay will still have a note of the listing and information etc.Student Moneysaving Expert :beer:0 -

EBay have had GHD make direct contact to remove all listings that are not being sold by approved stockists (this has not been completed yet so fakes will still be out their and always probably will). Only if your friend paid using PayPal will she receive a refund if not I am afraid it’s a hard lesson learnt.
The most important thing when buying GHD'S is to buy them from an approved online stockist such as www.agsalons.com. And register them with GHD as soon as you get them this will not only give you piece of mind but also activate your 2yr warrantee.
It is always advised you pay a good price for GHD's if you see a new pair for bellow £70.00 defiantly stay away.
We have some useful in formation on weather my GHD's are real or fake at http://www.agsalons.com/info/Are-My-ghd-stylers-genuine
Many thanks and take care when purchasing any irons.
Ebayaren't the only 'supplier' that GHD are cracking down on. Superdrug have just been caught selling GHD straighteners fromthe 'gray market' and are having to issue a product recall - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7626461.stmDo You Twitter?
