Ryan Air - Can they do this?

No wind ups.... why would you assume it was?? As said i use Ryan air a lot and have travelled cheaply and enjoyed it.... but this practice (if i have got it right) seems outragous to me.
Facts
Flights booked in May for

From Reus Barcelona (REU) to London Stansted (STN)
07/10/2008 Flight 3843 Depart REU at 0945 and arrive STN at 1100
From this mornings R.Air ticket page the original flight change to Monday morning (FR2102) has vanished but we still have 8 people booked on it???
Another flight is available slightly earlier though (FR3843).... so why have 3 been bumped to tuesday when seats are available on the flight less than an hour earlier??
Flights from Reus have had all the numbers changed and Times changes.. some sculdugery going on me thinks.... possibly
Regular Fare Adult
179.99 EUR
Mon, 6 Oct 08
FlightFR 3843 09:45 Depart 11:00 Arrive
The Monday evening flight has vanished from the schedual now too???
All very strange.
The only thing i can think of is that when we accepted the itinery change nothing went through for the 3 bumped to Tuesday..... possibly??? How do you know.. especially if it hasnt happened to you before.. email confirmation?? Not had one for either change!
Or are they (R. Air) are being a bit naughty and taking liberties with those who have got bargain seats??
As it happens the extra day suits me but its been a hassle cancelling and re booking accommodation and car hire etc
Its the practice undertaken by R.Air is worrying. Or maybe i have been watching too much X files!I save so I can spend.0 -
I booked a return flight from Stansed to Reus in May. We were booked on the Monday evening flight from Reus which departs at 22.25. We have used this flight several times and suits a weekend away.
We were informed of change of schedule in July. We were now returning on Flight 2102 departing Reus at 10.35. This appeared to be an additional morning flight. I did wonder why Ryaniar would have two flights from Reus to Stansted departing within 90 minutes but given the choice the later one suited us.
Today I've received another change of schedule, We are now coming back on the 9.45 flight.
We have also booked flights for November and December returning on the 10.35 flight so we'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Check on the timetable page on their website. Should be there.I save so I can spend.0 -
The OP's biggest mistake was that he didn't put "RyanAir rip off" in the thread header. He would have gotten a lot more views then from the pedestal gang. Or maybe they have viewed it and decided that because they couldn't pontificate on this one they would skulk away.
This sounds a bloody disgrace. You can bet it is no mistake, just another cash cow for the travelers friend, Mr. O'LearyThe common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

its confusing thats for sure beefster, they in theory moved the night flight to the morning so there was 2 planes going out one after the other and then shifted 3 of you on to tuesday, and left places on the earlier monday flight which are very expensive.
skullduggery yes more than likely, perhaps those 3 that were moved didnt accept the itinery change in time and they moved them to tuesday to suit ryanair and an expected bonus of sky high seat sales
yes indeed a ryanair rip off unless anyone knows better and can explain this to me, i will indeed get of my pedestal and agree with you.
a proper moan without all the nonsense that usually accompanies the vast number of non ryanair rip off stories
i would love to know more beefster0 -
Theres no more to say really.... We have accepted the change as it gives us back the day in spain we lost originally... at the expense of another day off work mind.
I missed a shot at their customer services last night as i was in Stansted flying elsewhere.... should have taken my booking form and ask why..
To reiterate tho.... i have travelled al over Europe for a few quid and never been mucked around previously... but this seems odd to me... if not worse.I save so I can spend.0 -
I've usually got good things to say about Ryanair but on the face of it this sounds very dodgy practice from RyanAir.
It's a pity you couldn't have put your point to RyanAir without it costing you an arm & a leg.0 -
So you think this has only happened to 3 people, more like thousands but remember the posters on here are in general a lot more savvy than most, so the OP noticed the skullduggeryOf course it is because it's happened to thousands of people hasn't it?
Oh no - it's just this one person (or rather 3). That's going to make a huge difference to Ryanair's turnover. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
it could be a simple case of ryanair wanting seat availablity on mondays flight, when they are plenty of seats to use on tuesday, the time difference on change is roughly the same, 12 hours later than earlier.this scenario is different because they are changing flight times, if it was the normal schedule and they bump of passengers, then thats when dummies get thrown out of the pram big time.this is a one off story and hopefully we wont read anymore like it, i dont agree with thousands being affected stoneman, where do you get that from? wishfull thinking perhaps!0

thats a typical ryanair fairy tale, " more like thousands have been affected" nothing to back it up with, just a figure plucked out of thin airthanks for the post beefster, i real ryanair traveller with a proper moan with facts to back it up with.0
