for those in the Newcastle-Under-Lyme / Stoke / Surrounding areas i would highly recommend the Newcastle-Under-Lyme council MOT testing centre.

Opposite the new newcastle college the reception staff for the council are hit n miss with friendliness but the mot testing centre offer really friendly and helpful staff.

After my MOT I had a few questions and the tester came out to my car with me and spent half hour showing me exactly what needed doing to pass (free retest although poster in the office shows otherwise )

I booked my 1993 Metro in for MOT at Montague Street Council Depot. Went yesterday and got absolutly first class service, staff were polite, friendly, and very professional. I would recommend this to anyone needing an MOT in Birmingham.:j
Needless to say my car passed :T

Hi,
I can recommend the Stoke City Council centre - I found it through this site in the first place, although they are really busy so need at least a couple of weeks notice to get you in.

First MOT I've passed first time on about 6 years, and also a full explaination of the couple of advisory notes.

I recently used my local Nuneaton council and had no problems. No issues with my 13 year old Peugoet. It's definitely worth looking at using these places since they have no motivation to rip you off. Wish I had went there before.

Can I recommend the Beeches Garage in the Great Barr area of Birmingham. I've used them for over 10 years now, reasonable prices (£47 MOT last year) no unnecessary works.

Have you tried Overton Service Station in Ludlow? We bought our car from them and they seem always very genuine.

He offers some great advice and only replaces stuff that's necessary, and charges a lot less than other garages in the area.

He's up at Ludford Bridge on the way out of Ludlow, small independent garage. He's always really busy for a small garage but then when you consider how good him and his team are it's understandable.
