Well small hatchbacks tend to be quite economical!
To be honest it's as much about how you drive as what you drive. You can buy a small economical car but if you reve the nuts off it and drive every where with your foot to the floor it won't be very economical. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Quite a few modern diesels have great MPG & 0-60, in fact the new 170bhp VW diesel has a quicker 0-60 than the the GTi and almost twice the MPG
For 5k you wont get much near that, apparently the 2.2D accord is good, but will only start at about 7k. Maybe a Skoda diesel with the 130bhp engine? My Passat with the 130 engine is very nippy, even for a big car, and still does 45mpg around town and over 60 on a run.:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. You should not have much problem drving a bigger car, it probably takes a few days to a few weeks to get use to a bigger car. Parking is what takes more time to get use.
A budget of 5k is a very good amount right now. Go for a diesel if you mainly do motorway/dual carriage ways, otherwise a petrol engine. A bmw 3 series would be a great car to have but petrol version will be no good for u as its about a 2.0. Diesel version aren't so good as there's a problem with the diesel unit in the E46.
As suggested for diesel, skoda, golf, passat tdi. Or stick with a hatchback petrol engine, spend 3k on a fiesta 1.2/1.4 and get a 03/04 reg.0 -

+1
Very nice car, fast and not ridiculously priced
Yep hopefully be getting one next year..just noticed road tax for my ford focus is going up to £99.95 for 6 months where as skoda is £65.
Just saving the pennies at the moment.
P.S Acid, if you look hard enough you may be able to get one for just over £5k."He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,

i fully agree with how i drive, it can be a bit bad soemtimes.
i hve a 1.2 yet just get oer 300 miles, thsi is due to the way i drive, and i tend to have a heavy foot most of the times.
i do about 150+ miles a week, and this is comign and goign from work, but this is pretty much all motoroway.
the weekends i tend to do local driving, but it is prob the motorway thats take up the most miles.
ive never had a diesel before, i mean ever, alwasy been a petrolhead, so i hope its not a drastic change and as simple as using a different type of fuel (lol)
a bmw 3 series in diesels appeals to me along as i get a very good mpg ratio
i also dont mind the accord as i do like them.
any others?
i shouldve posted my daily route before i guess
thansk to all that replied!0
