I've been away for the past two weeks and am still catching up! Shame that the card is not a proper Visa Debit card (yet anyway!)0 -
I was discharged from bankruptcy back in 2006 and still the Nationwide will not allow me to have a debit card??? Very frustrating indeed.
After reading this thread I will try the co-op or Barclay's, thanks guys0 -
My Dad had to file for bankruptcy a couple of years ago, and he had more luck with Barclays than anyone else... Try them first! Co-op are notoriously difficult to get in contact with when organising anything banking related.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I have recently gone BR and I have a basic Halifax A/c with an Electron card, they let me keep my account open and have had no problems with them at all. I am used to the restrictions of the Electron now and try not to let it bother me.0

well i had a basic Halifax account never been overdrawn and always in credit. Had a letter off them 2 weeks after my BR stating that they had seen my details in the Gazzett and pointed out they do not let BR have accounts with them and said they would be writing to the OR to see if he had any intrest in the £6 in the account :rotfl:Bankrupt 1st June 2009

Hi there;
I am due to be sequestated within the next few weeks. i already have a basic a&l account which is used for my benefits and salary input. This account was opened due to my husbands sequestration 2 years ago - we had a joint account with tsb - i continued along with them until they started taking money out of my account ( surplus ) as I had a loan and credit card with them. i had set up a dmp with them but they still continued to take any extra out of my account each month!
Anyway i changed to A & L who would only give a basic cash account to allow my salary etc to be paid into.
Due to my situation I am now being sequestrated and want to know how this account would stand. has anyone had any experience? Do you thisnk the bank will allow me to keep it? If i open a barclays account now but dont use it - until after my sequestration would this be ok. I have no assetts, my salary and benfits are my only income as my husband is not working. Now in a little bit of panic!0
