Try downloading Spybot Search & Destroy here and read the tutorial here.

Avg 8? (A lot of people are still on 7.5 which is the older one)
If so then make sure its updated and do a FULL scan
Then may as well try adaware too ~
    http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5&cdlPid=10844457
Its free ~ when it asks for a key (Or something) just continue without filling anything in
    UPDATE
    and FULL SCAN

If your still having problems after all that lot id guess your in serious trouble!
IF you are ~ rerun the WHOLE lot again and make sure you run NOTHING else (The more programs you open the more chance of infections spreading)

im updating and running avg every couple of days - found things initially but bot recently

all the pop ups are from CiD adverts

i only changed to avg a few months ago from avast and never had any problems before - beginning to wish i hadnt touched anything :(

Just to clarify then ~ youve run SPYBOT yes? (Immunised with it too?)
You cant blame avg as I assure you its safe as houses. Zonealarm on the other hand ive never been a big fan of (Though its easy to use so I understand why you would use it)
And its def avg 8?? (7.5 doesnt have 'spyware' scanners)

If so its looking like you have a nasty that no software has yet recognised! This invariably happens to the unlucky few and you perhaps may just need to wait until they CAN find it. Just keep updating and running AVG 8, SPYBOT (Remember to IMMUNISE) and ADAWARE every few days.

Heres one other you can try too (You never know, we may get lucky :p)
    Asquared free (anti virus SCANNER)
    http://download6.emsisoft.com/a2FreeSetup.exe

    Hope this gets sorted soon

    Try following the instructions here.

Using Spybot S & D should give your machine protection from malware like this.
