  • apple crumble (well, how I make it)

    peel apples, pop in pan.
add a couple of ounces of sugar, some raisins (or a dollop of mincemeat if you're like me and still have some left from Christmas!) pop the lid on and very gently cook.

    Topping

    8 ounces plain flour
    4 ounces sugar
6 ounces butter, cubed, room temperature

stir the sugar and flour together. Add a bit of butter at a time and rub it in to create 'crumbs'. Do this bit by bit until all the butter is used and you have lots of crumbs - don't worry if they aren't all uniformly small. I give the bowl a 'knock' and all the big bits come to the top so you can then carry on crumbing them if they are too big in comparison.

Pop crumbs on apples in dish and bake!

Yes, - you can use oats. Just add a couple of handfuls to the mix.

    HTH :)

Ok i will attempt it tomorrow when my cooker arrives, only been living with out one since then end of may!!

    Thanks
  • I sometimes buy the bags of dried fruits when they are yellow stickered (like bits of mango - the squishy fruits rather than the brittle ones like dried bananas and what have you) and chuck them in to the apples.

Also stuff like the Value or Smartprice Pears when they are reduced to 20p etc are great.

    Hiya Luc,
How do you get all those quote's on one post??

Lots of copying and pasting. I copy the text I want then select it with the mouse and then use the quote function which is the speech bubble icon beside the hash sign. To get the names to appear on multiple quotes in the first set of [] at the start of each quote type '= (person's name e.g. Lucifa73)' after 'quote', et voila!:p

Last time I made crumble I added dried cranberries (a good handful) and it was lush. I've also used muesli in the topping, (without the dried fruit though as that would burn and go bitter) or sometimes coconut
