  • Thanks for the info about HDTVs!

Obviously the most important things to consider if buying for Xbox360 are that it has the component inputs - as you mentioned - and that it displays 720p natively.

For those with computers, you can save money by using an existing PC monitor with the Xbox360 to display HD images with the VGA Cable. The monitor should be able to handle a resolution of 1280x720 at the very least, which will include most monitors bought today (except some 15" LCD Monitors).

  • Try a Poker set - loads going at the moment in the supermarkets for about a tenner. I recently learnt to play, like chess its dead easy to pick up but fascinating to learn the tricks. I've taught my twin 9 year old girls and 6 year old son to play and we now all sit out in the conservatory in the winter evenings calling, raising and folding... I got a bit worried the other day when after finishing pack the car for a trip, my little boy announced "all in..." !

forget monopoly or mousetrap this Christmas - get the family playing Poker
    am I missing something ??
  • Thing: Old console computer retro type thing(not the new retro games rubbish)

Bargain Price: Got a speccy for about 16.99 + P+P

Cheapest place to get it: ebay

Who its suitable for: someone who remembers their first gaming experience on whatever console it may have been.

    Any other info:

I have bought a member of my family an old computer from ebay. Being male myself the urge to unpack it and have a play is HUGE. All these toys with retro games inside them are all well and good but to get something you haven't used for 15-20 years is quite special. I may buy myself one!

Of course, it would be a good idea to find out what the person used as a kid. whether it be a grandstand console circa 1970's or atari games consoles through to the zx spectrum or beyond.

The only issue I can think of is to make sure it is in working order!

Even if I had £75 I would not spend it on my husband. For one major reason he is an adult and has his own money and can buy what he wants when wants.

I am amazed at what people spend. As per usual me and my husband will spend about £10 on each other.

It is normally silly stuff like toothbrushes, combs, boxes of sweeties. Stuff we need and nearly always forget to buy for ourselves.

Only spending £10 means that you have to think really carefully what you buy. I expect he will get some king of shaves shaving gel as I have money off coupons making it cheaper then own brand.

But hey ho each to there own. Wonder what the national debt will be after christmas as people spend silly amounts on there credit card for there children and family. And food they will just chuck in the bin.

    Yours

    Calley

.... or he could switch the bathroom light on like the rest of us! :D

Perhaps the idea is that a moneysaving man would then make sure the seat was put down again so that the lav nav light is not wasted, pleasing all female occupants of the house?
