Worth fixing?

My, just over 4 years old, Beko tv is on the blink. All the people have green skin
and it looks like there is a pink circle with a green then a blue outer layer. Actually looking at it right now (5 news update) it's red, green then blue.
Is it worth fixing, does anyone think?
It's a Beko 284248WNS, if that helps.
TIA

Poorbabe,
No-one wants CRT colour TVs these days - everyone wants LCD/plasma sets. Bad news for the environment, but good news for you. You can pick up a 28" working colour TV on eBay for around £10-£20.0 -
Beko! - bin it! 4 years aint that bad, for the make.
And don't buy a TV on ebay, that will be two trips to the local dump.0 -
Anyone remember when there were TV repair shops in the local high street?
Hate to think what it'd cost attempting to repair a tv. When you looking through the normal retailers for a new one dont forget Maplin, scan.co.uk and dabs.co.uk they often have b grade kit for a decent price.0 -
Thanks for your responses lovely people :T.
To be honest, I'm not sure I'd buy a tv on Ebay these days and also I'd like to get something that doesn't require a weightlifter to carry it
I'll mooch around the online shops to see what's available although, sorry Dunworkin, I am leaning towards a LCD as they are a lot lighter than my current one.The 365 Day 1p Challenge 2025. Member #420 -

I agree that a new tv would likely be best (definitely agree being beko!). Might be worth going for an HD-ready TV especially if you have satellite/cable tv or watch alot of DVDs (assuming HD capable DVD player). Our current TV is a Toshiba 28" CRT...very heavy! I've no reason to replace though at the moment apart from a couple of buttons on the remote not working!
Buying a CRT tv on ebay would probably only be worth it if it's "buyer collects" else you'll pay a fortune in postage! I had a brief look at currys and tescos and they only seem to do 14inch CRT TVs now.

RGB unit has gone so tv is a right off. Cost more to repair than it will to buy a new LCD one.0

I had a similar fault on a TV about 10 years ago. I got a repair man round, I think cost me 40-50 quid. It was a capacitor which he replaced in half an hour. Telly lasted another 6 months and something else went wrong. Buy new from John Lewis and get a 5 year warranty.0

try looking down the local tip for a new tv. My brother got a 50" plasma that somebody had chucked away. NOTHING wrong with it, just it's technogeek owner had more money than sence & wanted the latest model. Make pals with the man at the local dump0

Hi. my Beko tv has recently died and i was wondering whether to get it repaired or not. It made a few ticking noises athen didnt switch on again. Feels like the actual switch has gone because it doesnt push against anything.
Its only 18months old, so gutted. Only bought it out of desperation as it was nearly xmas and the kids wanted a tv. Never again
