when i lived on hartington road I got one of those cheapy aerials that looked like a mishaped coat hanger as I had no tv socket in my room. I did have to move the tv/aerieal around abit before I got it to work as it wouldnt work in the first position i tried it inWeight Loss - 102lb0

Well you must have had a great deal of luck or I am seriously going wrong somewhere as I have one of the above (smaller one) at a cost of £12.99 from Argos and I STILL cant so much as a picture!!

OK, let’s get back to basics. Coat hangers, indoor aerials etc are only going to be fine for freeview if you live close to a high powered transmitter. 10 miles is not close but if you want to try setting the freeview box up do the following.
Plug a scart lead into the freeview box and the other end into the TV. If the freeview box has more than one scart read the manual and use the one that is reserved for the TV.
Plug the aerial lead into the freeview box.
Via the freeview remote press the menu button. You should see this on the TV regardless of any freeview TV signal. If you don't see the menu select AV1, AV2 on the TV's remote which should pick up the scart connection. This might be marked up as Aux on the TV remote. Via the freeview menu find the search option. Do a scan. You will see the box searching for channels. The box will eventually tell you how many it has found.
If the box tells you it has found nothing or what it does find breaks up on your TV you will have no choice but to get a new outdoor aerial.
So did you do the above. If you did what happened?0 -
This is basically what I have done right from the beginning .... and I dont get any channels at all, yet everyone else et al say they can so I must be a)really unlucky or b)doing something wrong but I cant see where!!

Hi Tulip,
Thanks for the luck... Its not so bad in itself just frustrating because I am truly useless with electricity stuff.

how far is your room from where the main tv is - ie could you run an aeriel extension cable? I actually have an extension cable running from our main tv in a downstairs living room, to another room downstaits, upto a bedroom, through another bedroom before it gets to me! I bought the cable in a pack from argos and it came with bits that you can fix it to the wall/floor and keep it tidy withWeight Loss - 102lb0

Hi,
I'm back to back with it .... its a weird shaped house as it used to be a cornershop. I've no idea how to do it but I cant see my flatmates agreeing to it......
