Stuartli wrote,Tesco sold low energy bulbs for just a penny each about six months ago - they flew off the shelves so fast that the deal ended after about 36 hours at my Tesco Extra.
Still managed to get 20, even though four was the limit - found a dozy cashout girl...:-)
This is one of the problems in this country, we are ALL so greedy.
The limit is four, you managed to get TWENTY!
Not singling you out hence the bold ALL, just makes us look a bit sad really.0 -
wouldnt mind knowing where to buy cheaper small screw spotlights for the kitchen , theres four bulbs and they are £2.86 i think EACH in tesco ! even i know thats not very cost effective seeign as i need 4!0

Yes was in Morissons yesterday and managed to get 10 for £1.
They had both the bayonet style and screw style at the Dukinfield store.
I don't think that there was a limit on how many you can purchase
They seemed to have a couple of pallets out in the store but unsure if they are advetising like all the rest of the chains have recently done.No reliance should be placed on the above.0 -
I have stopped buying spotlight bulbs because I found that it is just as good to use the energy saving lightbulbs in the place of the spotlight bulbs so I now have a row of four energy saving bulbs instead. These are much cheaper to buy, and last maybe 50 times longer!!!! I use the small screw type bulbs, and the spiral tube ES bulbs, they cost about £1.50 each in Tesco, but you may get them cheaper elsewhere!0

There are lots of ordinary BC, large Edison screw ES and even small Edison screw SBS but for some reason very few SBC. Even Philips told me they don't make them and the only ones I can find are quite expensive.
How ironic, someone was giving away SBC low energy bulbs on our local Freecycle last week!0 -
Unless you have a mansion I don't see the point in buying twenty low energy bulbs. They last so long that they'll be sitting in your cupboard for years!!
My Dad only uses the low energy bulbs and he keeps a household diary. He looked up the other day the date he last changed a bulb.... It was 1994!!!:eek:I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -

The person that purchased 20 instead of the 4 offered stopped 4 other people possibly you and me from getting the same bargain, and then boasts about it, sad or what?0 -
managed to find them in the local Eastwood (essex) store at 3pm , the bayonets were running low, plenty of screw in's
