    I honestly cant remember,

May be it was the 8th

but the date quoted on my receipt is 6//9/08.

doesn't matter if you took it back on the 8th

They say the 8th, you say you can't remember - the 6th was a Saturday, 8th was a Monday

Stores and manufacturers probably check up closely on goods returned close to the warranty expiry date.

What i am surprised is that how on earth are they to know by looking at the cctv footage that it was me who was returning the printer??

Who knows, it's not as if CCTV was ever designed to be used to ID people or printers being handed back over the counter. Did you keep your back to all cameras at all times?

who said they have cctv footage, cause there're having a laugh. no one would go to that amount of trouble trying to identify you.

lets hope HO see's some sense and the make believe detective is given a boot up the ar5e

The OP has yet to state on what date they returned the item. They haven't claimed they actually took it back on the 6th, just that the date on the return receipt was written as the 6th.

The OP can't remember - so it may have been before, on, or after the 6th.

    Right.
    Bought on 7/9/07.
Returned faulty on 6/9/08.( as per receipt)

Staples head office say that they have cctv evidence of me returning printer on 9/9/08 so printer outside warranty.

Is it worth pursueing, and if so what is my best option from here( already written to HO)

    Thank You

You have the right to demand a copy of the CCTV recording showing you returning the printer. They cannot refuse this request.

But why would anyone want the cctv footage anyway? If the printer was £100 the op may as well write another letter to HO saying under the SOGA they want the printer replaced or repaired. Who needs the cctv!

Wait and see what HO say, may be someone else returned the same model printer on the 8th, perhaps they need to check their CCTV footage from the 6th
  • Who's to say the dates on their CCTV footage aren't wrong?
