Its a ridiculous service. I cancelled it one week before the end of free period, yet they debited the amount from my account. They've told me that they will refund the amount in 10 days, but I'm still waiting.
Logically, you should not have to pay more than 3 pounds (for a month) if you don't want the services.
I wonder if there is any place to raise complaints against organizations like this.
Hi there, I've also had a mobile phone I bought off a website with the Gadget Helpline attached to it - whether I wanted it or not! I cancelled it online the day before the free month was up and received a letter confirming the cancellation two days later - no problems. (This was April)
I've just checked my bank statement though and I have been direct debited £17.94 by TMTI Ltd (which freaked me out to begin with as I've never heard of them - but Googling it showed up that it's Gadget Helpline by another name) , so I rang them about two minutes ago and got through straight away. There was a very helpful lady at the end of the phone who offered me a full refund straight away, which should appear in my bank in the next two days.
Apparently it happens quite a lot as they have to ask the bank for your money at least two days before it's due to be paid - so although you might cancel it before the month is up, it's too late for the money to not go out.
The website I cancelled it through in the first place (and got a confirmation of cancellation letter from) was gadgethelpline.com
and the number I rang a couple of mins ago was 0870 429 6091.
Hope that's of help.0 -

I used to work at Gadget Helpline, most of the time it's fine but I do know of some people having problems getting their money back/being charged too much. I wouldn't suggest keeping it at all as it's a charge for something you can easily find online or calling the companies' own support number.
It unfortunately is a pitfall with companies passing your direct debit details to othersI wouldn't recommend doing this.

Its a free 30 day service you get with your mobile- You get a letter or email advising you of the service and you have time ( 30 days) to cancel by phone or on the web at gadget helplines website which is easily found on Google. If you miss the deadline there is a cancellation fee..
If you dont cancel then you are then a member..This service is far cheaper than Bransons new Virgin Direct service at £6.99 a month which covers no real gadgets..
I called to cancel and a very polite lady called Sue helped me and cancelled my sub straight away..Its all there if you read what you are sent!0 -
When I first took out the mobile phone contract, I cancelled the insurance direct debit on my internet banking and after calling them today to cancel, they said it already had been. Would this work with the gadget helpline? (I haven't got any information from them so can't cancel it online and 0845 numbers from abroad are very expensive).0

I have also had problems with this company. Returned my phone unopened and cancelled contract. Recieved a letter from the gadget helpline saying my account had been cancelled, but did not read the letter carefully. Was surprised to see they had taken 17.94 out of my account this month, about a month after the letter was recieved. When I asked for a refund, I was emailed a copy of my cancellation letter which said they were not cancelling until the end of this month (about six weeks after the phone was returned, and they know this!) I cannot see how tricking people into paying for services this company knows people do not want and will not use is better than theft. These days you have to deal with so much paperwork you do not always read all the small print, and a certain amount of trust has to be involved. As far as I can see, this scam is worse than the payment protection scams of the past, and consumers should be able to do something about it.0

I've just cancelled via the link mentioned above.
They don't tell you that the account information required is your bank account, so thank you to thewizz2009 for posting. I thought it must be a gadgethelpline account number. They certainly don't make it easy for you to cancel your imposed "membership", which is presumably because they are trading unethically, and they know it.0 -
One phone call lasting 20 seconds seems easy and fast enough for me. But, then I actually READ when I order and make sure I know what I'm doing.0
