TF I didn't mate  but as an IFA whats your take on this
Im neither a IFA  nore do I buy shares, Ive always played safe with cash deposits. Only shares ive ever had have been the demutulisation shares, So everyone can have a good laugh I decided a long time ago that I would hang onto NR and B+B shares until they were taken over.
I always believed that NR+B+B would be taken over, I just didnt believe that they would get taken over in the way that NR has been and B+B will in all probability be.
As for B+B shares, The underwriters from the share issue still have ( to best of my knowledge) the unsold shares on their hands, that fact should answer your question.
( It was agreed that the underwriters would sit on the unsold B+B shares for a month in the hope that market sentiment for them would improve, B+B Share price has now significantly fallen further. :rotfl: ) 0 -
Well thats the 'No' Camp, are there any in the 'Yes' camp with rationale?
We don't know which of our british banks have dealt with Lehman Brothers hence all the bank's share prices falling. Until we know that all bank's share prices will remain low.
Look at it as a bet :rotfl:
B&B shares are the cheapest at the moment but I think they always were in terms of bank shares.
As with all gambles.......
Don't bet more than you can afford to lose............0 -
Colin Cowdrey was trying to take over BB. a couple of months back, but the price he was willing to pay was not good news for small shareholders. The lower BB. goes, the more likely we are going to see the return of Colin Cowdrey. My own opinion. Don't touch BB. with a barge pole. There are other British banks in better nick.In the field of investment, 99 per cent of everything is garbage. Why? Because we have "gearing". - Robert Beckman0

I know its not been a good day all round today in the banking sector (stating the bleeding obvious), Bradford and bingley down 15% to 31.5p a share. Their 52 wk high was at £3.28 some while back.Would anyone advise to buy a few thousand at this low price or do you feel there is still some way to go with this B.S.?
I'm no expert on shares by any stretch of the imagination but my 2 cents worth would be:
If you want to invest in the banking sector because in the LONG term you believe rises will come, why not look for a bank to invest in that has performed relatively well but has been tainted by the banking sector as a whole rather than B&B who have real issues to resolve.
I recently took most of my cash out of B&B and parked it into bonds, when they mature I will put in Birmingham Midshires where (if I understand the rules correctly) it would be 100% safe0 -
I might drop Richard Pym CEO of B & B a line, anyone got his e-mail address?. It worked when I e-mailed the Nationwide CEO over the ISA transfer !!!!-up as I received compensationLiquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0

Question has to be not whether B+B Shares are worth buying , but how long B+B Shares will continue trading for.

After 20 yrs with the B & B and a lot of sould searching, I have today reduced my savings with them to the safe level of 35K. Looks like the Northern Rocks going to get my savings now. I'm normally a well laid back person, but there's nothing on the news apart from the dire situation of the UK banking sector.Liquidity is when you look at your investment portfolio and **** your pants0

WHOOPS! Just reread my posting. Colin Cowdrey should be Clive Cowdrey. Sorry, Colin. In the field of investment, 99 per cent of everything is garbage. Why? Because we have "gearing". - Robert Beckman0

By nationalising Northern Rock, has the government created a safe institution that will lead to instability in others as savers withdraw their balances? After 20 yrs with the B & B and a lot of sould searching, I have today reduced my savings with them to the safe level of 35K. Looks like the Northern Rocks going to get my savings now. I'm normally a well laid back person, but there's nothing on the news apart from the dire situation of the UK banking sector.
They have altered the market dynamics and as such increased the risk of a bigger failure.0
