Alliance and Leicester, for flatly refusing to give me and my wife an indication of the possibilities of using their debit card to obtain money during an Indian holiday. Didn't simply say they hadn't got enough data. No, were not able to release that information to us! We transferred to Nationwide.

i have to yorkshire bank but to far away so now looking for a bank a little closer to me though. but i have bad credit any bank which may do that? someone said A&L but reading through this it may be out of the frying pan into the fire.:D

Oh so outstandingly, the award has to go to A&L.
I've banked with First Direct, HSBC, Cahoot, Smile & Nationwide over the years & OH is stalwart NatWest.
All of them screw up from time to time & all of them have 'querky account features' that can catch out an unsuspecting account holder, but whenever problems arise, employees also at least attempt to give the appearance of explaining things & sorting them out ... though they might fail to do so.
A&L have often not even pretend to help. One might think that the branch staff must have had special training to be rude. Very reminiscent of that annoying Nationwide ad.

(btw. does anyone else think this ad doesn't work? Seems to subliminally work as 'this is what Nationwide are like' when what they are attempting to say that that it's exactly what they don't do.)
