If THESE figures are correct. E7Even may be heading for bigger trouble than they already have.

Yes I remember the same things being posted when I joined up 15 months ago !
The comment is very naive and doesn't take into account a lot of things - not least that some of us are paying a lot more than £10 per month, and also the fact that pre-payment means they have cash in the bank allowing them to earn interest and also to make cash payments.

Mike - anyone who reads these posts knows you are a big fan of E7 (hence your referral code on the referrers board. I have considered signing up with them myself for the very attractive prices, BUT you can't get away from the fact that they have been getting loads of bad comments lately, here and on other threads : http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=106560 also on adsl.org forums. OK it may be mostly gamers complainng on the adsl.org but not all and anyway E7 doesn't say - "please don't sign up with us if you do a lot of gaming" They do say unlimited download and offer good speeds, which obviously they are not keeping to. Congestion at peak times means they are overloaded, so why are they still having special offers to attract new customers ?

Yes valid points - but you have to remember that there will always be problems somewhere with any organisation. They just cannot please everyone all the tiome - particularly in a fast growing market where the technology and pricing is changing so rapidly. You should see some of the complaints about the likes of Wanadoo, Bulldog, Tiscali, BT etc.

All I can do is post my results - a little more objective than non-users comments, or of random quotes from message boards fiull of spoilers and anonymous posters.

My results are proof that at least in Essex (North Benfleet exchange to be exact) e7 is a truly excellent buy !

Now if my service is excellent, and the network to that service is provided by BT where do you think the problems that others have come from ?

The only real problems I have had (not including the network slowdown caused recently by a delay in e7 network upgrades) were in the BT part of the network.

As I stated earlier, I need my broadband to run my business and e7 does the job superbly.

Again, it would be great if other e7 users posted their Nuria results.

  • Thanks Ted.

What speed connection are you ?
I am only 1M and can see from Nuria that there are no other 1M e7 connections being monitored by Nuria so I am guessing that you probably have 2M or higher.

Perhaps you could email e7 support your results and mine and ask them why yours are much worse than mine - I'd be interested in knowing and I am sure that others would too.

Maybe my connection is so good because I only ever demand 1M.
Alternatively it could be that you are a long way from your exchange or that the line quality is poor ?

    Cheers
    Mike

I've been with them for 15 months and in that time have had 2 real outages - a few hours each. These were caused by BT, but e7 recompensed me with 2 weeks and 1 week respectively extra service which was great.Speed had been great generally though I hear that some gamers complain.
I have used nuria to measure speed - It takes samples througout the day of real access to websites and it compares them with the speeds it m,easures for other users with other isps. It measures surfing, upload, download, and gaming.
On all of these my connection is better than the average (by some way too).

They have had some problems recently in some areas but seem to have cured these with new equipment (apparently).

I've been with them for 6 months really pleased so far. I'm on 1M connection in East Yorkshire. Just done test on Nuria Surfspeed 5.7
    Download 8.3
    Gaming 3.1
    Upload 6.9

  • Thanks Jimney . Nuria will do lots of samples over time so it might be good if you could check again in a few days and let us know what it reports.

    Cheers

  • I read some of the recent comments with interest as I joined E7 after reading positive comments on this site. Speed is variable so I'm neither for or against them. My service started in August & it has been reliable.

Last night speed (from ADSLguide) was down to ~200k so I ran a few checks today. I only have 1meg speed due to distance from exchange. Here are results with approx time added. Slow speed appears restricted to evening, at least in this test.

    15:50 >> Speed: 931 kbps (down), 236 kbps (up) <<<
    18:10 >>> Speed: 859 kbps (down), 228 kbps (up) <<<
    22:45 >>> Speed: 345 kbps (down), 230 kbps (up) <<<

How do I get a Nuria surfspeed rating?

    MJ
  • You have to download the software at http://www.nuriaspeedtest.com/

I had an email today from e7 - They say that there are currently a number of major network infrastructure upgrades and improvements happenning and these should all be completed in the next 4 weeks

  • In response to the original question, I would say that if you are content to use the E7 service Mon-Fri 9-5 then it is a cost effective reliable service with only a few lost connections/outages. However, in the evenings and weekends the speeds are generally diabolical, and I am not a gamer.

I had the misfortune of subscribing to their Touch Telecom also, which is pretty ropey! (lost connections, inability to connect and calls where the other person when answering cannot hear me, but instead has dialling tones on the line)

I must admit, I had high hopes when suscribing, but they seem to be forever upgrading/updating their systems.

Unless they limit their subscribers, and put adequate infrastructure in place for the current numbers, I believe they will always be playing 'catch up'. The service will continue to suffer and we will be eternally offered "we will have upgraded our systems in x weeks"

Mike, you must be running a 'Private E7 Connection' like a 'Bat Phone' for your sterling recruitment efforts :D
