I ordered my online shopping last night and I've had it delivered today, but the chicken fillets are those frozen ones in a bag with the added water etc. (I thought I had ordered fresh but nevermind!)I've never used them before but it says you can cook from frozen.

anyway my question is, can i put them in the slow cooker frozen or shall I defrost first? I'm making chicken pie, so I normally cook my chicken in the slow cooker with gravy and onions, then transfer it into a casserole dish and put mash on the top.

    any ideas?

    thanks, lisa xx

If it's portion sized lumps of chicken I would defrost them first, but if it's bite-sized lumps I've been known to put them in frozen. However, my slow cooker tends to be on for a good long time!

    Hi nimbo,

Provided it was chilled quickly and stored in the fridge it should be good for three days.

    Hi

I have a jar of Red Thai Curry Paste in the fridge which states use within one month and it has been in there for at least 2 months (open), it looks and smells fine, I don't want to chuck it if it is OK to get one more meal out of.

    Any ideas anyone.

    Many thanks in advance.

I usually wait until it has mould growing on it before chucking out:eek: . Taste a tiny bit and if you don't keel over should be okay;) . I've had some yellow thai paste in the fridge for about two years  . Seriously though if it looks and smells and tastes okay, it probably is but someone else might come along and say otherwise! HTH.

I agree up to a point - unless any of the ingredients are obviously 'short life' eg cream, milk.

Having said that, I keep and use Mayo long past its 'refrigerate and use within X months' date and we're all still healthy enough!
