Someone asked the same question earlier and a list is being compiled by various people in this thread

Does anyone know of a website where one can log the contents of your store cupboard/fridge/freezer etc? I'm been doing a bit of searching on the web tonight and can't find anyone doing this so I'm thinking (being a geeky teccy type) of doing one myself - if noone knows of one I might add it to my interesting project to do list - sadly very long at the moment :-(
I use TaDa lists quite extensively both for shopping and work related stuff - very useful but sort of limited for what I have in mind here as ideally the site would "learn" what you regularly shop for and hence do predictive text when you start to type it in, track use by dates, quantity , size ,price paid etc etc... I just wonder whether people would find that too much of a hassle to do?
Would appreciate it if someone could point me in the direction of a site that does this so that I don't end up reinventing the wheel as I really don't have the time to dev it myself at the mo!0 -

Good idea. I don't know of one so tonight i've been inputting it all into a spreadsheet, i then printed it off so i could physically cross things off as i added them to a basic calendar style meal plan i made in excel.
It seemed to work because i could see what i now need to buy to keep me going for the rest of the month, which ultimately will help me to budget accordingly.
Now, if someone can tell me how to budget on £0.00 i'd be grateful :rotfl:0 -
Help please! My 12 free range eggs have frozen by mistake-somebody's knocked the fridge control knob onto '5'-too cold1 Must I chuck 'em? Thanks in advance for any help.0

Hoping this might help...Shell eggs should not be frozen. If an egg accidentally freezes and the shell cracked during freezing, discard the egg. Keep an uncracked egg frozen until needed; then thaw in the refrigerator. It can be hard cooked successfully but other uses may be limited. That's because freezing causes the yolk to become thick and syrupy so it will not flow like an unfrozen yolk or blend very well with the egg white or other ingredients.
Seems they'd still be good for baking, too.
On the topic of baking...(sorry!) I discovered an open packet of castar sugar in the larder. It doesn't have any best before date; it's probably a few years old, though, and inside it has all clumped together. If I give it a few knocks to loosen it all up, will it be okay to use?0 -

Yes it will be okay. I'm not sure it will run fine enough to be used for creaming but it would be fine with any recipes that need granulated sugar.Val.0 -
blahn-thanks so much for that-they've sat in the fridge all day, (the eggs, that is!)while I dithered about what to do-so glad not to have to bin them!

Would ham cooked on Christmas eve be ok to throw into a soup tomorrow new years day?? or should I just bin it?Penny xxx
Old age isn't bad when you consider the alternative.0 -
Hi FZwanab,
Ham seems to keep longer than other meats for some reason. Providing it's been kept well chilled it should be fine.
