I can understand that a cool iron may just melt the water repellant oil/plastic to restore its properties. I'd make sure the iron was really cool, though

Ahhhh....I didn't think of that!
I think that's exactly what happened. I did feel a bit of a 'nana ironing shower curtains but it does appear to have worked. Time will tell - thanks folks :T0 -
I am impressed that you even have an iron!!!:j
I of course have an ironing fairy who does it all for me!Go hopefully into each new day, enjoy something from every day no matter how small, you never know when it will be your last0 -
If anyone is about . . . . .
I have a cake recipe that calls for a 7in square cake tin. I'd like to make a slightly larger cake in an 8 in square or possibly round tin.
Can I increase the recipe ingredients by 1/2 to do this? I would think so, but I'm not sure and don't want to waste the ingredients. Also it calls for 3 medium eggs, if I were to increase by 1/2, would 3 large eggs do the trick?
Hope to make a start in an hour or so, after BH makes breakfast (full english) for dinner.

This may be a bit too lateIf you still want to make the cakes:
- an 8" round tin will make the same depth cake as a 7" square tin
- an 8" square tin will need an extra 1/3 of the ingredients to make the same depth cake as a 7" square tin
