Silly question - I'm making macaroni cheese but only have self-raising flour instead of plain - can I use it or will it go wrong? :o

    Thanks, C xx

It might be a bit late now, but it should be fine - I've used SR flour for white sauces before when I've run out of plain and it doesn't seem to make any real difference that I can tell.

    HTH. :)

I made the jelly as normal, put the creep crawlies in and then poured the jelly on and put in the fridge as normal and it worked.

We even had one little convinced last year that they were real bugs, even when we told her the truth she still would not eat them haha

  • Making breaded chicken for dinner tonight from the "takeaway secret" book. Is it ok to make this this morning and keep in fridge until dinner at about 7ish or will it go soggy? Having people over so tring to do as much in advance as possible. Thanks

  • If I chopped lots of veg up, would I be able to put them in a food bag so I can just use them straight away on a super lazy day, and if I could, how long would they last?
I know you can get chopped veg in bags in supermarkets, but I don't know if supermarkets put something in the bags to make them stay fresh, which is why I have no idea if it's possible to do at home.
Sorry for the really silly question!
(The veg would be ones for stews, so carrot, swede, turnip and parsnip)

It's not a silly question at all.

When I lived at home, such veg would have been left to soak in cold water. I don't bother, just leave things in a covered dish or pan.

It partly depends how fresh the veg are to start with: I wouldn't expect things to last a week, but I could be wrong.

Personally I'd cook several portions of stew and freeze the left overs, but I have to watch that the left overs don't get grabbed before I have frozen! Mind you, only DH and I left at home now, so not such a problem!
