    I've bought a celery and it tastes absolutely vile :( really bitter and stringy. I normally use it in salads and stirfry, and then once it goes limpish I make celery soup.

    Do you think it would be ok for soup or as it tastes rank should I just bin it?

    Hi,

    I just made some yummy rhubarb compote with rhubarb from the garden. I have about 1.2l of it (am freezing half in 2 x 300ml cream tubs) and will have the rest this week for my breakfast with granola and yoghurt, but I just want to check that 150ml will be a portion of fruit? It was made with 1kg rhubarb, 100g sugar, half a cup of water and some ground ginger and vanilla extract if that makes any difference? Or can I make my portions smaller so it lasts longer? :beer:

    Thank you :)

    Hi Hotcookie

    I merged this with the quick questions, as it had dropped off the front page, and i wanted to see if we could get you more responses...

    Am not sure i Understand...

    i would work it out like this - 1kg rhubarb made Xamount of portions . I would divide the kilo by Xamount of portions, to see how much fruit there would be per portion. If it was under a daily portion of fruit, try a couple less portions to see how much you need for one portion

    Makey sensey? Probably not!:rotfl::o

    Not really sure what you meant there :rotfl:Was trying to figure out how big a portion was supposed to be, without that I couldn't know how many portions I had :)
    However I found this very useful pdf on the nhs site, which tells me my cooked rhubarb portion size is 2tbsps so 30ml! Excellent. Will probably eat more though as I love rhubarb and I will still get loads from my 600mls...:j

    it's hard to explain but my brain knows what i mean.

    Like this -

    How to explain :o.....?

    i tried but it makes no sense!

    If you were measuring 20 portions out of 600ml = 600ml/20portions = 30ml per portion, or one daily portion of rhubarb

    if you had 15 portions = 600/15 = 40ml or 1.3 portions

    if you had 10 portions = 600ml/10 = 60ml or two portions of fruit

    :eek::rotfl::p
