I was going to make some blueberry muffins this week - but unfortunately the never-ending-saga-of-painting-the-spare-room took over...::sigh::
If I freeze the little bag of blueberries I've bought will they be ok to use in muffins next time I want to make some or will their water content make them all mushy when I cook them?
(Seems like a daft question now I type it out, but I don't usually freeze fruit...)
Thank you in advance, oh wise ones0 -
Yeah. i freeze berries all the time
In fact I just made raspberry jam from frozen fruit. The water content will only be slightly more, and they should still taste yum

Has anyone heard of madbid.com and are they any good?0

I haven't come across them before but you made me curious enough to go searching through the forums, and pulled up this thread - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=15854761
I haven't read all of it as it's long and the debate seems to get a bit heated, but the posts on this page indicate it's not good and you should steer clear.
HTH!Back after a very long break!0 -
Many thanks. I will stay clear of them.0

A couple of questions if you don't mind...
I have some pasta tubes that I want to stuff with mince and then cook, sort of cannelloni but smaller and a bit thicker. Would I need to pre cook them first, or will they cook through in the oven? I once used lasagne sheets (soaked) for this and although it worked, it was a bit fiddly, so i'm a bit worried about trying to stuff smaller wet tubes!
Also, I have asked a similar question before, but didn't get a reply. When I make food with mashed potato (fish cakes for example) and freeze them, they go really soggy when I remove them from the freezer. Is there a way round this? Maybe the potato is a bit wet before I freeze it, or could it be it isn't freezing quick enough?Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

I'd stuff them dry, because I can't imagine it would be very easy to do it once they were cooked. Make sure the sauce covers them well and they'll cook in the liquid.
And I think potato goes a bit soggy once it's been frozen generally, so making a bit drier before you freeze it might help? Not something I do often ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

Thanks, i'll try them later and hope they cook properly!
I don't freeze mash on its own, but when i've made fish cakes they've come out the freezer and were quite soggy when defrosted. I had the same thing last week with some of these i'd made. They seemed to cook fine, but completely lost their shape.Grocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100
